Drivers First Offense of DUI Deserves Jail Time

Abstract
I have been thinking so much about life and things that happen. I think about all the car accidents that have happened. I think about how many people think its ok to drink or take drugs and then drive because they feel they are fine. They take the decision into their own hands to decide to get behind the wheel not honestly knowing if they are for sure okay to drive or not. I feel that if you are the kind of person that thinks this is okay then you deserve to spend time in jail to think about your actions.
Drivers First Offense of DUI Deserves Jail Time I was sitting and talking with a group of friends about different things in life. We ended up on the topic of people driving under the influence. I didn’t realize how many of my friends have actually done this. After this we talked about how they didn’t really receive anything but a small fine. I felt this was absurd and unacceptable. In my opinion people who are convicted of a DUI should be made to serve jail time. First, there are many people who get a DUI and continue to do it again because they just receive a slap on the wrist for it. When people get picked up for a DUI they are normally just given a ticket if they have someone that can come and pick them up. Sometimes they are made to sit in the jail until they sober up and then are let go. I mean it’s like a child when they do something wrong we punish them to ensure that they don’t do it again because it could be harmful to the child or someone else. So if we do this with a child why should an adult be any different? If they received a harder charge like having to spend jail time along with a fine then they would be less likely repeat their actions just like a child. Secondly, sometimes these people kill people when they can’t pay attention because they are under the influence. When these people get into a vehicle under the influence they are taking the
