The drinking age should be 18 because less high school students would binge drink. For three reason. One reason is that The united states is in the minority of have the drinking age be 21. Another reason is If 18 year olds have other big responsiblities they should be resopsible enough to drink. Also having the alcohol age being 18 would make teens less likely to become criminal.
There are only four countries including the United States that order 21 to be the drinking age. In countries like Greece, Barbados and Germany teens can drink at the age of 16. There are 21 countries that do not have a drinking law. 106 countries drinking age is 18. In countries like Jamaica it is perfectly legal to give a baby alcohol. “European, and especially southern European, cultue and that young people there learn to drink at younger ages within the context of the family. As a result, it is further asserted that young Europeans learn to drink more responsibly than do young people from the United States.” This quote from The Underage Drinking Enforcement Training Center is saying that that people who start drinking at a younger age are more responsible drinkers.
If at the age of 18 people can legally vote, buy scratch tickets, smoke cigaretts, and get married why can’t they drink? At 18 people are mature enough to go to war. They fight for our freedom but are not aloud to drink. 18 is the age where kids are now conciderd adults, and as adults they should have the legal rights to drink.

It is saying that because alcohol is illegal to minors, it makes them more likely to want to drink. Letting 18 year olds drink in restaurants, bars or other licensed places would make it more controlled than them drinking at unsafe locations and parties and less appealing because it would now be legal. 21-24 year olds had the highest drunk driving accidents in 2009. Regardless of the data showing young drivers having higher car accident rates, lowering the drinking age would take away the pleasure that minors get from breaking the law and therefore, lowering the car accident rates for young drivers. . The drinking age should be lowered to 18 because of these and many more reasons. as the statistics and quotes show you it would benefit our country.
