    Poverty. We are so used to it that sometimes it is easier to turn a blind eye to it. We are so used to the image of young children scraping spoiled food and metals that they would sell for a few pennies in dumpsites and garbage. We are so used to knowing that there are people out there living with only salt and rice in their tables. We can see them but we cannot truly see. This is just an accepted fact. But the sad thing is even if we have awakened and have seen all these, there are no how-to guides or five easy steps to alleviate poverty in our country. What we can do, however, is to get involved in projects trying to at least help those in need like the Gawad Kalinga, Pondo ng Pinoy and World Vision. We can show our concern for them by trying to share and donating some of what we have especially for victims of calamities; although it would be better if we do this not only when we watch them in televisions but when we see them with our very own eyes in our communities as well.…
