Strengths

Strong brand partnerships

DreamWorks Animation currently has strategic alliances with many global brands such as McDonald’s,1 Hewlett-Packard2 and Intel3 as well as tie-ups with several broadcasting channels like Nickelodeon4 and Cartoon Network to telecast its television series. Most recently, the company also partnered with Walmart to gain digital access to current DreamWorks Animation titles, through Walmart's VUDU, its exclusive disc-to-digital service.5

Such strong branded partnerships increase the confidence of both consumers and investors in the company. They also serve to generate greater consumer awareness of the studio’s films.

Perceived as a great employer

Hollywood studios aren't known as easy places to work. But DreamWorks Animation once again has made Fortune magazine's list of the 100 best employers.

DreamWorks, with 2,350 employees, was the only Hollywood studio to make the list. DreamWorks Animation has made Fortune's list for the last five years, moving up from 47th in 2009 to its highest ranking of sixth in 2010. With employees from nearly 40 countries, DreamWorks prides itself on having a collegial, artist-friendly atmosphere.6

By promoting a positive work culture, DreamWorks Animation is perceived as an ideal employer to work for among potential employee. Consequently, DreamWorks Animation will able to attract top-notch staff to work for it which in turn will translate into an increase in the quality of its animated films.
