William Randolph Hearst and Dream Vacation

Dream Vacation This coming weekend I am planning to go to my dream vacation with my family. I want to go to Santa Barbara. It is going to be a long trip, so before w go I am going to reserve our hotel room and book our tour to go see the amazing Heart Castle. Also, I am going to buy a train ticket so we can enjoy our trip and see fun locations. The first day we are going to stay at a beautiful hotel called “Madonna”. This hotel is all pink with flowers roses everywhere it has a nice lounge, a confortable room, and there food is also delicious. The second day we will swim in the ocean and my husband is planning to make some barbeque for the family around the beach. At seven o’clock I am going to go to a concert and have fun with my husband. While we are there we are planning to go wine tasting with my family because I love to drink wine. On Sunday morning our bus will take us to Hearst Castle. The museum opens at 8:00 a.m. in the morning and it is a long tour. Because Heart Castle is extremely big we are going to buy a ticket individually to be able to explore all the rooms possible in a day. I am very excited about this vacation because this vacation will be amazing, enjoyable, and relaxing for all of us.

John Mashego and two colleagues started Endless Vacations when they bought a run-down hotel in the Hazyview area in 1989. They slowly converted it and within three years they were awarded a three star status and an increase in occupancy. In the early nineties, with the dramatic growth of the travel industry, there were many competitive resorts that were established in the surrounding area which put significant pressure on Endless Vacation's financial performance. In an effort to combat lost market share, Endless Vacations increased their advertising spend and they hired overseas agents to market their hotel. This strategy has not been as effective as they expected and they are struggling to make any profits. In an effort to regain the financial security they once had, they are considering two potential ventures. The first venture is to…

Several summers ago, shortly after I graduated 6th grade, my mother and I took the pilgrimage that all East Coasters with a week of free time and a fresh passport must take. By this, of course, I refer to seven days of good old fun-in-the-sun in a Caribbean resort. Like many other families, we had planned to go directly to the resort town of Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, until our flight back to New York departed a week later. And so it was, for several days at least. But lazy afternoons and evenings on the beach can become stale after a while. It was pleasant, for sure, but not stimulating. Punta Cana hadn’t captured my attention as the bright lights of Hong Kong or the ancient history of London had. There was no local flair, nothing…

But instantly I remember again, and with every stride comes an inch more of pain, making me yearn for the cool water to heal my burnt steaks. Seagulls scout for food, hurtling towards the magma if only for a taste of someone’s forgotten potato chip. My primas have already beaten me to the sea. They heave their bluegreen buckets with mustard yellow handles into the water, plunging salty mixture onto the land to fill the handcrafted moat that will protect their beloved sand princess from malicious criminals. Of course no castle is fit for a princess without twisty shells in an array of a tints and hues. I snag a glimpse of the other seemingly perfect castles around us, built with care in creating the ideal landscape, truly an architect’s paradise, but none compare. We romp in the sand for what seems like only a few minutes before my Abuela calls my name. She hands me a meal suitable for the engineer that I converted to that day. Spicy peppers and tomatoes scatter around my mouth before the cooling lime sensation mixes with the cilantro and carne asada paired perfectly with a tortilla de maiz. I gulp it down before she can say, “Despacito mijita.” And like all devoted grandmothers, passes me a glistening grape Fanta before I voiced I was…

Whilst looking through my collection of photographs I discover a bundle labelled “Orlando, Florida 2005”. Just then a lot of very happy memories came flooding back, these pictures seem like they where only taken yesterday. Yet they where taken 12 years ago, my last family holiday. I can remember every detail about this particular holiday, obviously it had such a huge impact on me. I recall visiting Disneyland and meeting all the Disney princesses I was so gobsmacked. It was all a 5 year old little girl could dream of! I would clutch my big sisters hand and jump up and down with excitement. One of my fondest memories was doing the princess tour, my sister was 12 and she just did anything to make her little sister happy so obviously she joined…

My first trip to Las Vegas was the worst plane trip every, I had experienced all types of emotions from Norfolk to Dallas. In Norfolk my flight was delayed due to the weather, then another two hour delay in Dallas. All I wanted was to get to Vegas. On my flight I sat beside a man who never been on a plane. This guy behavior was the worst. I tried to convince him to read, listen to music or drink. I even tried to start a conversation to calm him down. My friends were laughing they knew my patience was running out. I was thinking to myself knocking him out. We enter into a storm the thunder and lightning was bad the sounds silence the whole flight. The Pilot came on and informed us we are in Dallas unable to land due to the weather. Looking out…

I live in a country full of rich resources. Our weather is like a bittersweet lotion that replenishes the skin. People from all over the world come to my land for these things called "vacations". Vacations bring in nothing but good memories, smiles, and family. A vacation is a fairytale here in Columbia. The beautiful landscapes are just a pinch of reality that are on the brochures, websites, and posters. Sometimes when I look at these Americanized pictures of Columbia I wish I was there. The true story of Columbia starts in the city of Bogata located in the mountains. I am a young girl. I will not disclose my name or age because what I'm about to tell you about my culture and land are hands on things my soul has been through; which may upset…

One very long month later, everyone's bags were packed and we was off to Tennessee! After five lengthy hours and passing through a time zone, I spotted the breathtaking view of Nashville. As we entered our hotels parking lot, I got out of the car and stared in awe of all the bright colorful lights and building against the dark night sky. It was stunning. My family and I walked into the hotel to be greeted by a welcoming smile from the lady behind the desk. We got our room keys and went to out room. It was decorated with pictures of guitars and a warm welcoming goldish yellow wallpaper. Although it was already nine o'clock, our night had just began.…

The hotel I have chosen that suits there needs the most is in Costa Brava, Spain. It's called Florida Park Hotel, Santa Susanna, which is a three star hotel in a quiet location and also has a easy walking distance to the beach. The hotel itself has en-suite bedrooms and the rooms include telephone, satellite television, hair-dryer and a balcony. The hotel has buffet style restaurant which is air-conditioned. It has twos pools, inside the hotel and outside and both have bars. Also there is a fitness room, sauna, Jacuzzi. This company is Edward Coaches which offers door to door pick up, short sea ferry/shuttle crossing, 2 two nights half board accommodation while travelling, 7 nights then at the hotel with buffet dinner, bed and buffet breakfast, a welcome drink at main stay hotel, wine and water with evening meals, entertainment most evenings in season and excursions as described in the itinerary. Entry fees not included unless stated otherwise. This trip is 10 days. This holiday would include activities for example the fourth day into the hotel would include in the morning a tour to the market town Girona, where you can wander around its narrow streets, Jewish quarter and see the Medieval cathedral before continuing to the picturesque village of Besalou. The only problem with this holiday is its only on certain dates, 17th May, 14th June, 5th July, 6th September and 4th October. Its the cheapest holiday that’s including everything else this family wanted, as its costing £649. The currency in Spain is Euros. The temperatures in Spain…
