Drawing 101 Research Paper
As an animation major, I understand that drawing is not only a helpful but necessary skill in my field. Simply and bluntly put, if one cannot accurately draw the world and people around them, one cannot animate it. Animation is the art of the illusion of life, and that illusion cannot be created without a deep understanding of living things. Among the skills taught in Drawing 101 were gesture sketching, the utilization and identification of different line-making techniques, effective composition selection, color analysis and mixing, and pastel drawing. Is this one galaxy or two? This question came to light in 1950 when astronomer Art Hoag chanced upon this unusual extragalactic object. On the outside is a ring dominated by bright blue stars, while near the center lies a ball of much redder stars that are likely much older. Between the two is a gap that appears almost completely dark. How Hoag's Object formed remains unknown, although similar objects have now been identified and collectively labeled as a form of ring galaxy. Genesis hypotheses include a galaxy collision billions of years ago and the gravitational effect of a central bar that has since vanished. The above photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in July 2001 revealed unprecedented details of Hoag's Object. More recent observations…

The first art work chosen was a figure by Myron of Athens, Discobolous. The Discobolous, a Discus Thrower, is a Roman marble copy after a bronze original of 450 BCE. A picture of this piece is shown below, figure 1. This piece of art work is simply amazing and exemplifies the Greek sense of harmony and balance (Petronius, 2008). The artist depicted the statutes of that time, a male nude figure, which seems to express freedom of movement and the Greeks idea of beauty. Furthermore, this artwork exemplifies the role of the artist through a representation of human strength and values.…

This building once the seat of Parliament is now one of the second most-visited tourist attractions in Germany and was built in 1871. To get this project approved, Christo and Jeanne-Claude had to gain the Parliament 's approval. In order to do this, they personally went from office to office, and they wrote many letters to each of the 662 members. This was a huge project with 600,000 feet of polypropylene fabric that had to be fireproof and nine miles of rope used. It took seven days to wrap the building and was finished on June 24th. Over five million visitors saw this…

There have been some challenges with drawing. For one, I got what seems to be a pretty late start, only starting to really draw my freshman year of high school, and while that may seem young to some, it seems like usually, people start to draw or to make comics when they are still in middle school. So when I did draw, it always seemed like my drawings were “falling behind” the drawings other artists of my own age group had created. After I had finished drawing something, I was always so proud of it… up until I visited the internet and saw all of the drawings that were so much better.…
