Double Identity Book Report
Double identity is an amazing book written by Margaret Peterson, filled with secrets, mystery and sadness. Bethany who is a twelve year old girl, was driving for three days straight with her parents. She lost track of where she was, and ended up at a stranger's house in the middle of the night. Then her parents left her at this stranger’s house by herself. She later found out that the stranger was her Mum's sister, Aunt Myrlie. Bethany’s dad told her that they were there to get Mum some help. With all this going on, Bethany needs some advice on being able to ask questions, observing her surroundings and learning how to relax.

Bethany needs to be courageous and ask people for the answers to all the questions in her mind. Multiple questions

The questions in her mind often distracted her from what was right in front of her eyes. The fact that there were two beds in the room she was sleeping in should have told her that Aunt Myrlie must have had children. Children who would have given her clues to the mystery. She did however, find out where she was from a newspaper lying about and also that her aunt had a husband. She discovered this fact one day as she took a walk in the town square, and there it was! Clearly written on a memorial stone. With keen observation Bethany would have solved the puzzle much earlier.

Bethany needs to take a deep breath and relax. The situation made Bethany overwhelmed and confused. She became rude to the people who were around her. They too were having a hard time figuring out what was going on. And all she did was make them feel worse that they were the cause of her anger. This pushed them away and yet they could have been there for her. A bit of rest always help the mind rejuvenate. All work but no rest makes Bethany an angry girl.

Asking confidently, observing keenly, and relax, are skill that would help Bethany. Asking questions will bring answers. Paying close attention to her surroundings will help her realize that the answers are closer than she thinks. Relaxing calms her down and makes her more pleasant to everyone around her. Bethanys life might be a roller coaster, but learning these skills may help her solve her

One of the salient topics of Butler's essay is the concept of identity formation and the subversive politics therein. She begins with an assessment of the creation of non-self-initiated identity, an action that places meaning onto people that naturally could not exist. Butler uses the example of police action to illustrate the interpolative nature of addressing via the notion of "the reprimand", In essence, we are witnessing the linguistic creation of identity. The subject did not exist before the address; it was the act of addressing that created their new status. To put it simply, they are a subject because they are a subject.…

After Alison and Tara ran off into the woods and relaxed by the lake. They both told each other stories that they have always wished would come true. They imagined those stories coming true by acting them out in an imaginary play scene. They sang “Kokomo at the top of [their] lungs over and over again” (Evans 39), wishing that they were somewhere else than at their grandmothers house. They would run off into the woods to get away from their grandmother Lydia, to get away from all the controlling rules and regulations that she has placed over the girls. However Lydia did not place harsh rules on Alison, which might be because Alison is the favorited granddaughter. After a while of the girls running off, Lydia finally had it. Lydia did not want the girls “disobeying her and running off” (Evans 40), anymore. So Lydia scared the girls by stating that “snakes are in the lake… [they] love water” (Evans 40). Lydia tells this little white lie so that she can manipulate the girls into thinking that the only safe place is to stay inside of that once luxurious house. However, Lydia’s little white lie spiraled into an occurrence of both day and night terrors for Tara. Tara could not sleep by herself anymore because of a night terror that caused her to toss and turn right off the top bunkbed and smack her head hard onto the solid cold floor. Startled, Alison was the one who ran to Tara’s side. When Lydia heard the loud…

In Issue 3: Writing Identities, the author’s discussed that most people shift their tones when they’re personalities are in different social areas. I’ve experienced this with my mom. My mom’s tone changed between my boyfriend’s mom and I. When she’s around my sister and I, she’s a whole different person. When I’m not home, she’s always asking me questions about where I was, who I was with, when did I go, and so on. When I always tell her that I was with my boyfriend and his family, she’s always coming to conclusions that I always go there, I’ll be pregnant soon, I’m always lying to her, and so on. I try to talk to her, her tone always stays that way until I get mad and tell her off about it. I explain all the questions she’s asking…

The renowned author Ellen Hopkins never disappoints with her unique novels. Identical follows the lives of sixteen year old twins who battle their oncoming demons everyday. Kaeleigh is the perfect student and the perfect child. Yet ever since she was nine, her corrupt father has sexually abused her because of the absence of his wife, who is away campaigning for congress. Raeanne doesn’t want to come second in her father's eyes so she turns to drugs and sex to fill the void in her heart. This novel should be banned to young high school students because of the extent of drug use, the explicit and vivid sex and rape scenes, along with inappropriate relationships, and self harm. However, this is the best novel I have ever read. Hopkins wraps the reader into the realistic lives of the twins, which are about ready to shatter.…
