The body is a very complex mechanism. There are many different veins and arteries that flow throughout the body. With there being many different veins and arteries throughout the body there are multiple paths to get to the lower lobe of the lung. A journey can be described as a passage one may undergo in order to reach a destination. Journeys can be both physical and emotional. As well as this journeys can be a positive and negative experience. Does it ever cross your mind how two very different pieces of entertainment are alike? In the epic, “The Odyssey” by, Homer and in the movie, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope the two main characters, Odysseus, and Luke Skywalker undergo a hero journey. A Hero’s Journey is a pattern of narrative that appears in drama, storytelling, and myths in which involves a hero who goes on an adventure, and in a crisis wins a victory, and then comes home changed or transformed. In the movie Donnie has been reliving the same period of time over and over again. For example there was an air plane that had been dropped on the house and no one knew where it was from. But eventually we realize that Donnie is living in a tangent universe which is where the jet has fallen from. The jet was from the plane that his mom and sister were on. Eventually the audience was given the hint that the tangent universe…

Donnie Darko is a movie about a young teen that experienced many abnormal things in his life that are said to be associated with a psychological disorder. Basically the movie is about an imaginary friend, Frank, (a demonic bunny with a scary voice) that only Donnie Darko can see and hear. Frank convinces Donnie into committing several acts of violence. He convinced Donnie that the world would end and gave him exact day, hour, and minute this was supposed to take place; He convince Donnie to go flood the school he attended and to even set fire to someone’s house; he convinced him he would be in great danger if he didn’t follow through with theses horrific events. Apparently the imaginary friend came from time travel and Donnie himself gets interested in the meaning of time travel and also finds that a close neighbor has also experienced what he has. Both of their experiences were just too similar to be only a coincidence for Donnie, so he believed in time travel very much. Could it be that they are just both experiencing the same abnormal psychological disorder and that is why the same signs and symptoms occur in the both of them. Makes you wonder!!…
As a teenager living in an ever-changing society, a journey is bound to happen either emotionally, physically or mentally. At any point in a persons lifetime, one may go through a journey- whether that journey takes place at a certain time or place, stemmed from a decision or the journey of ones existing lifetime. No matter what or whom, journeys are bound to change us and are inevitable. They offer us development and growth as individuals as well as altering the way we think, act or talk. This can be obtained through overcoming obstacles, achieving goals, anything really that ee encounter during a journey. We often register change as something dangerous, yet we still try our futile attempts at resisting change but at the end of it all, you yourself as a human being would have changed in either a positive or negative way. Bruce Dawe's poems, "drifters" and "migrants" emphasis on the emotional aspect of physical journeys where it is tied to the attitudes towards journey (s), the compassion in the journey, overcoming obstacles and fulfilling the desire of destination. Bruce Dawe uses language techniques such as imagery, colloquialism, tone and repetition to convey and highlight some specific aspects of physical journey(s).…
The purpose of Chris McCandless’s journey was for him to find himself through the simplicity of nature. Growing up, his parents were controlling and when he graduated from college he set out on his journey. Chris took his car and went north. In the book Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer explains his thoughts and reasons behind Chris’s choice to go into the wild. “McCandless went into the wilderness not primarily to ponder nature or the world at large but, rather, to explore the inner country of his soul” (183). He was in search of who he was and what he wanted to become.…
Throughout human history, great heroes have been created to triumph over man’s struggles. Most every culture has, in the past, told their own tales of heroes and their trials. These champions, while spread across our world and its ages, share some key characteristics with each other. This formulaic composition of heroes, while it can deviate, has stayed true since the dawn of history. This remains true with the Finnish hero god, Vainamoinen. (okay so his name has a bunch of umlauts and such but I can’t type that every time.)…
When a character or characters go on a journey that eventually leads up to a life lesson, they are going through the quest cycle. It can also be referred to as the Journey of the Hero. The quest cycle has six stages that characters go through to achieve their primary goal. According to Vogler, the journey of the hero is a cycle with very recognizable stages that the hero must encounter. In Yuri Herrera’s Signs Preceding the End of The World, he describes the many stages the main character, Makina, encounters.…

What is the real purpose of living, if you are unwilling to take any uncalculated risks? These “risks” can range from something as simple as sampling a new food, or something as bold as skydiving. Some people are natural risk takers; they live without fear and have no reservations when it comes to failure. Personally, I have never been much of risk-taker. In fact, I have lived a majority of my life in a very planned, deliberate and some may even say a very boring manner. Now that I am bit older I find myself at one of life’s critical crossing points. The question now is if I am going to stay firmly planted in my seat or use my parachute.…
