We can calculate the board size for which the time taken by manual labor drilling and profiling equals the time taken by CNC Drill (for drilling) and CNC Router (for profiling)
1) Drilling
Equation: 29+ (0.080*500*Q) = 240+ (0.004*500*Q)
Therefore, Q=5.92
Thus, for the board size greater than and equal to 6, using CNC machine would have less production time than manual drilling.
2) Profiling
Equation: 50+ (1.0*Q) = 150+ (0.5*Q)
Therefore, Q=200
Thus, for the board size greater than 200, using CNC Router would have less production time than punch press.
3. Assume a normal process flow: How many minutes per board are needed to produce an order of 8 circuit boards; of 40 circuit boards; of 120 circuit boards; of 800 circuit boards?
