Domestic Violence: Article Analysis
In “The Same Old, Same Old is Not Working for Those Who Experience Domestic Violence,” Maria E. Garay-Serratos, M.S.W., Ph.D. begins by stating that “if we want a world free from domestic violence, we must demand new ideas” (Garay-Serratos, 2016). Garay-Serratos then mentions that she is employed at Sojourner Center which is the largest domestic violence research organization. She said that in 2014 they began to think of innovative ideas and started trying to get to the root of the cause of domestic violence. Garay-Serratos says that their aim is to address domestic violence proactively and not just be there to pick up the pieces after the fact.
