Does Teachers Keep Students During Recess
Does the teacher keep students in during recess/lunch? Why? My cooperating teacher does keep students in for lunch and recess, usually every day. For homework, she has students record in their agenda what they need to do for the night, week, or weekend. When students return the next day, the teacher checks to see if they are ready to turn in any homework that is due. If students are missing homework, she gives them a one day grace period. If a student still has not turned in homework after this one day grace period, the student is to stay in for lunch and lunch recess. She does not allow them to finish their homework during this time. Another reason she keeps students in for lunch and lunch recess, is if students have not finished classwork.

    1. The legal issue is whether or not the teachers, the school, and the school district are liable in this case of injury to a student on the playground during recess. Obviously, the student who threw the rock is most to blame for this incident, but since the three teachers were sitting together talking when they are supposed to be supervising and observing, it is likely that they will be found negligent in this case. Whether in the classroom or out of it, teachers "have a legal duty to instruct, supervise, and provide a safe environment for students" (Essex, 185).…

“So from eating out, we can also learn how to make wise choices.” This would make students prepared for college by enabling them to leave campus and eat what they want. This independence would get kids ready to face the real world. “It provides a semi-sheltered climate to allow students to grow and become responsible.” This would give teens the privilege of not being watched every second of the day. If students disobeyed the rules of when they should be back, they could take away the privilege or give punishment. Throughout high school students don’t have very many opportunities to show how independent they are any letting them leave for lunch would be a perfect way for teens to show teachers they can be trusted and can survive in the real world.I know a lot of high school students who are very shy and keep to themselves. With the ability to leave school during lunch, kids would become more outgoing because there would be many more chances for them to socialize and interact with the real world. “If students have the privilege of off-campus lunch, they will gain more responsibility and more experience on how the real world works.” All kids have a big part in the future of our job…

Many elementary schools have reduced or eliminated recess during the school day in an attempt to improve test scores. That has been especially true since the No Child Left Behind Act introduced in 2001. In order to allow for more instruction time for achievement standards to be met, more time was spent in the classroom resulting in something having to be cut out of the school day. In most cases, that is recess. However, doing so has not had the desired results and children have been losing out on very important aspects of their development. Having recess is vital to the development of children because it helps them to perform better academically in school, it gives them the opportunity to learn the social skills needed throughout life, and it improves their physical well-being.…

For students who wake up too late to eat breakfast, it is an opportunity to give their bodies the fuel they need to finish the day. Many others see it as a refreshing break from the stress of schoolwork and the demands of their teachers. And for nearly all students, it is a time to socialize and mingle with friends and acquaintances. Giving students the opportunity to leave the school campus for lunch will allow them to fully enjoy their meal, relieve them of the stresses of school, and grant them meaningful fellowship with friends.…

Although I have an early dismissal, school is still 6 hours long and then I invariably have homework on top of that. I am thankful for the math teacher I obtained this year because last year the math teacher I was assigned gave me at least a half hour to forty-five minutes of homework a night. That was just math, I was in almost all honors classes so I would steadily have homework in those classes. I have to take the honors classes so that colleges will feel more disposed…

While looking constantly at the clock, minute by minute, and then eventually the bell rings, the class is over and nobody remembers what the class was about. This is why we need recess; recess is a necessity for middle school children to be at a stable emotional and physical state. For many children in middle school stress is a major problem. After all of the studying and homework at home children need a break to have fun during the school hours with their friends. This change affects the students, faculty, and administration. Sadly, some people such as administrators and teachers might be against this change. They might believe it takes up too much time for academics. Without recess children cannot focus,…

One of the most annoying, if unavoidable experiences of teachers like me is dealing with student absenteeism. And it is most satisfying when all students are present on that day and the days thereafter to ensure maximum learning.…
