Does Islam Condone or Promote Violence ?
ISLAM & VIOLENCE
In the 21st century, the majority of people have started raising questions about Islam whether it condones or promotes violence against the innocent people or people who are not following this religion. There are so many debates going on about this issue in all over the world recently because people are trying to figure out if it is true and some people are trying to show that Islam never brings any trouble with itself to human’s life or prove that no actually Islam doesn’t even have any relationship with violence. Unfortunately, Islam has been associated with violence and aggression so many times as the terrorist groups which are unconsidered as an Islamic organization have killed or attempted on lots of innocent people so far. To be honest, most of the terrorist groups either in middle east or Africa are somehow related to Islam and that has been the biggest factor enables people to think about Islam in that way. In contrast with these conceptions which are not true and accurate, there will be three logical and coherent reasons in this essay explaining why Islam has nothing to do with violence or aggression. The first one is that religions do not affect people in bad ways which will make them turn into a violent person spreading aggression to the people in society and secondly the main purpose of Islam has always been to promote peace and justice in human’s life and lastly being violent depends on the people, if she or he is violent then she or he promotes violence, not their religion. IS ISLAM A VIOLENT RELIGION??
In today’s world, although there are many people who consider Islam as a something dangerous and even some of them feel scared or threatened when they hear the word ‘Islam’ or ‘Muslims’ actually there is nothing to be afraid of in the whole concept or progress of Islam. Let’s start with the definition of this religion in order to understand what exactly it means originally. Islam

Islam is an ill-perceived religion throughout most of the Western world. Once known as a quiet and peaceful religion, the general perception of people from other religions and most of the world upon Islam is quite distorted. Ever since the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, an influx of discrimination and prejudice towards Islam and Muslims has spread throughout the world. In “Understanding Islam,” by Kenneth Jost, an article about several accounts of how Muslims are mistreated and stereotyped throughout the world, brings up a recent poll within the United States says that 45 percent of those surveyed has an unfavorable view of Islam. The article also states that a CBS poll in April 2006 found that 46 percent of those surveyed believe Islam encourages violence more than other religions. Westerners must recognize the need to combat the backlash of stereotypes and negativity towards Islam within the 21st century. In order to do so, we must first truly understand Islam by comprehending this unique faith and culture.…

I have intended to write about “Islam and Violence” for some time, something I should have addressed a long time ago; I only hope that it is not too late. Before asking you to carefully read all of this, I want to be sure that you do not conclude that I am making any moral judgment or that, even more importantly, I am holding myself above others. I see what I believe is an unacceptable situation and I refuse to sit silently anymore and endorse it with my silence. I am also not going to debate my values, making a career out of further defending my values or opinions, much less stoop to a position where I have to degrade Christianity with equivalent examples to prove my point.…

The literal meaning of Islam is peace. Because of many current world events, Islam is a highly controversial and sensitive issue that has many misconceptions that need to be more fully addressed and understood. It is true that the events of 9/11 have separated the history of American relations with the Muslim world into before and after phases, negatively affecting the patterns of assimilation of immigrant Muslims into American culture and society (Simmons, 2008). This essay will begin to give factual details regarding the Islam faith, compare Islam with other Abrahamic religions and discuss common misconceptions and current events that have changed the way the world looks at Muslims and the Islam faith.…

    Religion and Violence

Religion, which is a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices, serves the purpose of establishing rules and principles in a society. When studying various religions, it becomes apparent that the principles instilled are those that are morally just. Each major religion specifically addresses the issue of violence, and the vast majority condemns such actions. Individuals following a particular religion are expected to follow the rules and principles established which theoretically should create a world that is morally righteous and free from violence. Such is not the case, however, and society must constantly correct immoral actions performed by certain individuals. These individuals originate from diverse backgrounds and religions, and therefore no specific religion can be solely liable. Therefore, it becomes necessary to determine how violence and religion can simultaneously exist because the natures of these two elements seem to be contradictory. Two particular explanations, which introduce historical examples, illustrate how these two entities can coexist. One explanation states that certain individuals feel that violence is relatively harmless, and therefore feel no remorse in performing violent acts. This explanation incorporates classical historical texts, which imply that violence is an essential element of life. Another explanation states that certain individuals feel that violent acts are justified as a means of propagating faith. This explanation points out that survival and expansion of religion through violent acts is acceptable. These two rationalizations help explain how such variance can exist between religious dictation and the actual practice of individuals in society.…

In, “The truth of Islam”, Andrew Mack points out that Islam is not a violent religion nor peacefully, yet both. He states that the reason why Non-Muslims views Muslims as “negative” or “terrorist” is, because of ISIS doings, al-Qaida, and the other ultra-violent Islamist groups. However, close to 1.8 billion Muslims remain peaceful societies, as the country were not involved in WWII (Mack). Also, Mack said to determine where violence stands, there are two factors: homicide/ murder rate, and “conflict years” to examine on. He used statistical facts to attest this point.…

The following essay has been prepared in order to illuminate the understanding of many that have questions regarding the facts on Islam and its persuasive strategies to indoctrinate nations and people. Islam is a world religion founded by an Arabic visionary named Muhammad who was born in the city of Mecca. The teachings of Islam have touched the broad spectrum of this planet. When we examine the religions of this decade, one would have to agree that Islam is the second- largest religion in the world today. Many will argue and say that Islam is possibly the largest religion prevalent today. Of course, there are those that would agree and there are those that would disagree according to the growth of this religion. According to the prophecies that are written in the word of God, we know that the word of God will cover the world as the sea. As apologist, it is an opportunity to dialogue and it is an invitation to present the truth in light of the mythical teachings that have seduced billions for decades. The modern thought of today’s apologist is to provide an understanding in order to create an authoritative position, which dispels the untruths that many in this faith have followed for decades.…

When studying history, both in a professional and academic sense, we try to make connections between civilizations and time periods. Historians have attempted to discover universal constants of human nature, a bond that forms from continent to continent, human being to human being. Is there a constant quality that all peoples posses, and is reflected in all civilizations? Indeed, it is extremely difficult to make generalizations about centuries of modern history. To say that something is true of all of history is virtually impossible, as a counter-example exists for just about anything that can be said of any group of civilizations. To say that all religions are spread by violence is equally unfair and untrue - because contrasted religions has been spread in exceedingly diverse regions of the world, by vastly different cultures. Islam, as a prime example, has been characterized inequitably by historians and the media as a religion of violence. To put it bluntly, as this article does, "Islam was mainly spread through Arab territorial conquests (Sudo, 4)." However, upon examination, it is not fair to make the generalization that Islam is a religion of violence, and one notices when looking at world religion on a whole, one finds that Islam was no more violent than any other religion. In fact, not only is Islam not a fundamentally violent philosophy, but we can also see that many other religions normally considered "non-violent," such as Christianity or Hinduism, have been spread through bloody conquest. Thus, in searching for a universal constant of history, we ought not fall into the "fallacy of abstractions," as Sydney J. Harris keenly puts it, and assume that because of isolated incidents and conflicts of territorial ambitions, that all religions have violent tendencies. Islam has, throughout the centuries, been somewhat a victim of circumstance - indeed it has been perceived by many as oppressive and cruel. This belief originated over a thousand…
