Doctors
Can you imagine a world full of sick people unable to get a cure? Doctors are very important to our society because they help us when we are sick, and sometimes they even save our lives. Doctors are a huge part of the miracle of life as well. That is why I have chosen this career. It’s just so amazing to me to know how one person can help another person and change their lives forever. The reason I want to be a doctor is because I enjoy helping people when they need it the most. Also the anatomy of the body, it is so amazing the way all the organs work with each other and how perfect everything comes together. I believe that the human body is so perfect and so interesting and the way we can discover new things about it day by day. I would like to be a surgeon because I want help people and also if someone was dying I would like to be able to save their lives. Someone who wants to be a doctor needs to be passionate about the career because it takes up most of their time. They must be really focused on the seven to eleven years of school, plus the internship. There is also a lot of competition in that field which makes the competitors, in this case doctors, to invest even more time in it. We also have to keep in mind that accidents occur during any time of the day, so if a doctor is needed at a certain hour they are expected to be there even if he or she is spending some quality time with their family. Becoming a doctor is no easy task. Just getting into medical school is a hard task not including the amount of studying time spent in residency and the grueling hours one spends training. It also requires more training than most other jobs. Like I mentioned before, it usually takes about eleven years to become a doctor: four years of college, four years of medical school, and three years working in a hospital, the internship. For some specialties, doctors may have to work in a hospital for up to eight years before they are fully

I interviewed Dr. Janet Geyer and received some great information from her. Geyer sand the hardest part of becoming a doctor was “The lack of personal time, everything became about school.” I knew that going into the medical field would be hard and the majority of my time would be spent studying, but hearing it from a doctor makes it real to me. I asked Geyer what makes her happy to be a doctor and why, she said “I like the intimate part of being a nurse, people tell me more than what they would normally tell others and sometimes I am really able to make a difference.” I thought about what she said and I would love to make a difference in someone’s life, but I also need to remember that I cannot get too attached to my patients. Geyer said that if she could go back and give herself advice from when she was in college she would tell…

I graduated from medical school in 2013 and continued to work in a multi-specialty hospital as a medical officer. During that time, I had the opportunity to care for a number of patients, from a different range of social, cultural and economic backgrounds, with diverse ailments. The most satisfying part for me, however, was the meaningful interactions I had with my patients. Behind the numerous chief complaints presented to me were real people, each with a story that shaped who they were and how they had come to that point in their lives. My four years of clinical practice taught me the essential elements necessary to be a great doctor; knowledge, good listening skills, compassion, and love for humanity.…

I believe that it is not only my destiny, but also my passion for helping sick people that keep me working hard in the medical field. My childhood sowed the seeds of my passion for medicine. When I was in the first year of my elementary school, my family started to experience serious financial difficulties as my father was cheated by his friends. Thus, we could only visit a physician assistant when we were sick. My heart was broken when my father was diagnosed with heart disease and we could not afford to visit a cardiologist. I felt sad and helpless when my siblings had severe typhoid fever and measles. I wept when my sick dogs died one after another because we did not have the money to pay for the veterinarian. Thus, as a little girl, I firmly decided that I will study hard and was adamant to become a competent doctor who will be able to cure a lot of sick people and sick animals.…

In order to keep the sand dunes at Cronulla/Wanda economically sustainable there are several strategies that had to be done so they wouldn’t be destroyed in the near future. Since there were an increasing number of people going to Cronulla to use the sand dunes, the council, state and commonwealth had the act quick to save the sand dunes. The strategies that were used for sand dune management in the Cronulla area include dune revegetation, polymesh covering, walkways, and fencing. Dune Revegetation has been used in the Cronulla/Wanda area for the management of sand dunes because it removes weeds and harmful materials which may affect the condition of the sand dunes. By controlling noxious and environmental weeds, irrigating the planting areas, planting recommended dune species and installing wind protection fences, removing bitumen and other debris from the dunes and access roads, replacing the fences, the dunes can be revegetated so that they may remain in a stable condition for future generations. The second strategy is to install a network of paths and barriers to prevent people from shifting the sand dunes. Surfers often check the conditions of the beach by looking over them at the dunes. They run up to the top of them so they can get a view of where there are good waves or not. In summer, an astonishing number of surfers will flock to the beach. The result of those people all running up the dune would cause displacement of the sand and weakening of the dunes. To solve the need for people to travel around the beach, the council has installed walkways to provide a path around the area which doesn’t involve people walking or treading on the sand dunes. The dunes have been fenced off in case any people wonder off and don’t walk on the pathways. On top of that, board and chain stairs have been put put in to protect the…

Ever since I started to watch ER at the age of fourteen, I have formed a fascination for the medical field. The best component of the job is saving one's life. Due to this, I want to become a family doctor when I grow up. In the book Physicians, family doctor are, "The first health care professional [that] patients consult for a problem" (Physicians 59). The profession consists of "treating people of all ages and seeing the same patients on a continuing basis, and often for years" (Physicians 59). That's another reason I want to be a family doctor I get to meet new people and become well acquainted with various patients. Becoming a family doctor is not easy; it takes eleven years of going to school and not being able to enjoy personal life; also the pain people feel when they lose a patient. But despite the difficulties, the outcomes are worth the try.…
