Diversity Vs Ad Diversity
Adversity Malcolm X once said, “There is no better than adversity. Every defeat, every heartbreak, every loss, contains its own seed, its own lesson on how to improve your performance the next time.” I have had a time in my life where I can be compared to a carrot, egg, and a coffee bean. Everyone faces adversity in life, but not everyone reacts the same way. I have had the opportunity to grow in all three forms. Six years ago, I was 11 years old; I was making my first trip to a Christian camp, Camp Dickinson. This camp was located away from all the lights, sounds, and people of nearby towns. As my parents were closing in on the camp to drop me off, I felt the tingle of butterflies in my stomach. I was nervous because I would be spending a week with people I had never met before. I had to put up a front of being tough so that I would not stick out or be made fun of. Young Life is a Christian outreach program that enables high school students to build a relationship with God without having to go to church. One of the biggest aspects of Young Life is to always bring someone new to our club days. These would be held at a friend’s house with our leaders, and we would play games, sing songs, and do a bible study. I once went to my group of friends, who weren’t apart of Young Life, and invited them to a club day, Like a coffee bean facing boiling water, I helped my friends and myself build a closer relationship with God and develop a better lifestyle. In conclusion, I have experienced three different cases of adversity in my life. Being like a boiled and un-boiled carrot, egg and coffee bean has made me a better person.
