Diversity exists simply because of the human race. There can be differences even within the same group of people, and that’s important to weave communities together to grow. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Because of this, the United States is also referred to as a ‘melting pot’ by citizens and foreigners. Cultures from all over are found in the U.S. along with American culture that also helps contribute to other cultures. This is so important because it brings diversity, opportunities, inclusivity and adaption. Having so many different types of ethnicities, languages, beliefs, food and traditions are what make up the different cultures around us. Diversity creates curiosity in people to dig deeper into things that aren’t typically in their everyday routine. These can go hand in hand. With culture comes history which all students learn. When learning about all of these different beliefs and cultures while also interacting with children from different cultures prepares them for a future with diverse colleagues. Researchers, Amy Wells, Lauren Fox and Diana Cordova-Cabo, found that, “Ninety-six percent of major employers say it is important that employees be comfortable working with colleagues, customers, and/or clients from cultural diverse backgrounds” (Wells, Fox, & Cordova-Cobo, 2016).
