Discussion Board Forums Instructions

In the Discussion Board Forums, you will examine 4 Old Testament heroes based on the readings from Courageous Faith: Life Lessons from Old Testament Heroes and compare the heroes with yourself. In each corresponding forum, you are required to write a thread of 150–250 words. You are then required to write replies to at least 3 other classmates by interacting in discussion, providing additional insights, and interacting with the contents of the classmates' threads. Each reply must be 75–150 words.

Thread: In each forum, you will post a thread that fully answers the forum's prompt in 150–250 words. The thread must demonstrate proper grammar, syntax, and spelling as well as be clear and accurate. When citing Courageous Faith: Life Lessons from Old Testament Heroes, academic sources, and the Bible, use current APA, MLA, or Turabian format based on your degree program. (Religion students should use Turabian format.). If you cite any source other than the Bible, include a reference list at the end of the thread. Finally, the content of your thread must reflect insightful analysis of the biblical text as well as reflect your own life.

Replies: You will reply to at least 3 other classmates' threads in 75–150 words. The purpose of these replies is for you to engage in discussion and to interact with classmates over their insights from Courageous Faith: Life Lessons from Old Testament Heroes. It is advantageous to post your replies before the very end of the module/week so that those who desire to reply and engage in discussion may do so. Remember that the extent and quality of your discussion will factor into your grade for each forum. As with the thread, make sure your replies reflect quality writing.

Submit your thread by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Thursday of the assigned module/week and your 3 replies by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Monday of the same module/week.

Within this paper I will be reflecting over the first part of Theology 104. This class has addressed many topics that have given me a better understanding on Christianity, the Bible and most importantly Jesus Christ. I will be addressing two topics that I feel are very important to Christianity the first topic being the Importance of Personal Testimony and the second topic covering the Importance of Maintaining a Christian Lifestyle. Throughout time, humans have embedded ideal values into their key writings. In the modern age, this would take the form of the construction of legal documents and constitutional amendments. Likewise, this took the form of scriptures, myths, and holy texts for the Ancient Hebrews. In these texts, which usually took the form of epics and stories, heroes - not limited to Abraham, Jacob, Samson, Moses, and David - were chosen by God to save, create, or boost Hebrew society in some way, shape, or form. In doing so, the writers characterized these leaders with certain character traits which made them desirable. Even though these traits all had both vices and virtues, out of them, trends between these heroes still showed that being devoted to God was the most desirable and important trait for three main reasons.…

The first 39 books of the larger work called the Bible, is called the Old Testament. The Bible itself is arguably the best selling and most read book of all time, yet it’s well known to be quite challenging to read through and understand. The Old Testament portion of the Bible, notably the most difficult portion of the Bible for most to study and follow, yields 39 books from multiple authors, and spans over 4000 years of crucial world and church history. If that were not enough to take on, the Old Testament comes our way through multiple styles of authorship and formats, including but not limited to, books of history, law, proverbs, ethics, philosophy, treatises, dramas, songs, epics, biographies, and letters. There have been many books written and published to survey, explain, and/or bring to light the Old Testament, but none more helpful to me than the review subject of this paper, the work of Dr. Elmer L. Towns, entitled “A Journey Through the Old Testament”.…

Concrete responses: Get vulnerable. In 250 words, relate a personal life episode that this book connected with in your own life experience. Relate your story in first person, describing action, quoting sentences you remember hearing or saying. In the teaching style of Jesus, this is a do-it-yourself parable, case study, confession. You will remember almost nothing you have read unless you make this critical, personal connection. What video memory began to roll? I belong to several discourse communities ranging from family, friends, and church to my ethnic group, weight watchers, and my classmates. The discourse community that I am going to discuss in this paper is the one that gets me motivated and eager to take part every Tuesday; it is the women’s bible club at my church. Our Bible club consists of twenty-five women and we meet every Tuesday to discuss different areas and topics of the Bible. We have certain unofficial rules that members of the group respect. These rules include the following:…
