These learned skills will then carry over as valuable assets in their future careers as students, professionals and parents. I have come to look at management as facilitating the process of learning by establishing expectations in a classroom setting that allow for gains in academics, social behaviors and personal growth. Both of these tools combined are symbiotic in that they support each other and provide the teacher and students with a way to function together at an optimal level.…

Teachers play myriad roles in educating their students. More than giving lectures, teachers are also responsible for the students’ character. A good teacher must ensure that when students graduate, they are not only successful in their career but also in their life as a person. Discipline is one important element of good character. Being disciplined means obeying every rule stimulated by an institution, in this case, the school. It is an essential element because without discipline, it is impossible for the students to control their behaviour as they do not take the rules seriously. As a result, their character will be flawed because of their disobedience. One responsibility teenagers should have is self-discipline as it allows them to have order in life. Self-discipline is essential to succeed in life as it is necessary to express various virtues such as respect, punctuality and good temper. Therefore, without self-discipline, there is little chance to succeed in life as self-discipline is the determining factor of how others judge you. Being the future generation of our society, it is important that youths or teenager abide by certain rules or norms of life and be responsible for their own actions in order to ensure peace and stability in the country. Otherwise it would affect the country’s economic progress and political stability in future. There is no purpose in merely obtaining academic achievements without self-discipline because no one would approach or befriend you as you lack the virtues a decent human should have in the modern society. Even as an adult, self-discipline is needed as you will be assigned to various tasks in the workforce and you would have to be responsible to complete it. Even someone who has a high status must have self-discipline, otherwise certain consequences might follow. For example, a law professor from National University of Singapore is having trials due to his sex-for-grades corruption case. He gave better grades in exchange for accepting sex and gifts from a female student. His lack of honesty is what resulted in his current state. Had he been self-disciplined and fulfill his duty as a professor, he would not have to worry about this issue. Therefore, it is vital for teenagers to have self-discipline to ensure the survival of our society.…

But in joining in these groups, there are effects which can be sited in their academic performance. A lot of college students, nowadays, are having much time in their other activities and agendas rather than being focused on their studies. There are many social factors affecting one’s academic performance. These factors include the organizations, student cults or the fraternities, sports activities, and romantic relationships. These could use a lot of time for the students that should be utilized in their academic activities like reviewing and reading notes. Sometimes, these could also affect their academics by means of being more attached to one of the social factors mentioned. According to a research done by Mukul Bhalla (2003), students who are involved in a romantic relationship are motivated in their academics but tend to be more stressful because they are forced to manage their time. Also according to Victoria Erin (2010), some students who are members of student cults not just lose their focus but also are a destructive social relationship to their life. It is also mentioned in the article of Grace Anne Harmony (2008) that some fraternities tend to be deadly to the society. The question now and purpose of this study is to identify those selected BBTE students who are involved in these social factors and its effects to their academic…

Since students are not the only ones being affected by the problem, the study will help us get to know students’ perception of the measures used to tackle indiscipline but also perception of teachers themselves.
