Secrets. Garbage. Dirt.…. Mold. Imaging living in a home with stacks of almost six feet high piled garbage throughout your entire home. In the book Dirty Little Secrets, by C. J. Omololu, Lucy Tompkins is stuck living like that everyday of her life. Lucy is a sixteen-year-old female, as her sophomore year in high school. She is a bit tall, and she’s a very thin person. Her short, straight black hair is always perfectly straight, and put together. Lucy usually appears as a timid, shy person, until you try to get to know her as a person. Although she tries to manage a regular scheduled shower, she doesn’t always get one. So sometimes she may appear very haggard. Putting the pieces together, you can probably imagine tired, shy, messy teenage girl who isn't really the type to ‘fit in’. …show more content…
She is many things, but one major word that could describe her would be secretive. For example, she has to keep a secret from everyone she doesn’t live with or personally know, so she doesn’t get close to people because of the fear of someone figuring out her secret. Another example of her personality, she is very insecure about herself, her house, and her family. Lucy also has low self-esteem, and stressed, but don’t doubt that she is still a very smart girl. One major secret she was hiding, her mom’s death. After coming back home from storming out of the house after an argument with her mom, she finds her dead on the floor. The inhaler only feet away from her hands. Lucy almost calls 911, but then her mom's secret would be exposed. So, she hides her mom and tries to make things right, but she fails and trying to clean the house by herself . This terrible situation ends in Lucy setting her house on fire with her dead mother inside to cover it all up. Every. Little. Secret...
