Diprosopus Research Paper
Diprosopus is also known as craniofacial duplication, or two face. There is also a term for it called Craniofacial Duplication this is a very rare disorder where parts or all of the face is duplicated. Some people call it twinning, but this can be a very dangerous situation for it is two people in one body. This happens when abnormal activity happens with the protein SHH (Sonic Hedgehog). SHH is a gene has a important role to be able to signal facial issues during development. Diprosopus is the syndrome that causes facial structures to duplicate; often the face is mirrored to the other side. When a child is born with Diprosopus the brain development is highly effected. Diprosopus can happen to animals to, a famous pig named Ditto, later in its life it died of pneumonia caused by when it was eating through one snout and breathing through the other. ‘Janus cats’ are also cats that are born with Diprosopus. The name is from a Roman God. In Millbury, Massachusetts USA a set of cats with this case named ‘Frank and Louie’ were put in the World Record Book for”The Longest Living …show more content…
Diprosopus can be detected by means of special computers and technology used with pregnant women. Being in their condition life can be hard not just physically but among there own family and friends. They can be strongly humiliated too. Some witnesses say that when they first see these types of babies they admit they were a little freaked out. A father was interview by NEWS to see things from his perspective, he say, “I was a little scared when I say my girls for the first time, but after a little while I fell to love them as I should.” However some are very defensive over them immediately.     The banded anteater (Myrmecobius Fasciatus) is a small marsupial found only in Australia.
