March 16,2015 Digital Painting & Painting by Hand Now a days, we are able to create art in ways that others might have not thought of. One of the methods that is becoming popular and known is digital painting. The oldest and most traditional method is painting by hand. Digital painting and painting by hand do not have to be with just a brush, it can be accomplished by other materials such as chalk, water colors, airbrush, and so on. Many have seen the outcomes to be very similar to each other. Digital painting and painting by hand might have the same visual looks, however, these two methods are very different when creating the art piece. Digital painting is one of the newest methods that is being taught to new artist. This type of method is where an artist can create art on the computer using a graphics tablet. When an artist decides to do a digital painting; they do not need to spend as much money. All that they need to purchase is their laptop or computer, a graphics drawing tablet such as a Wacom tablet, a digital painting program, and the canvas the artist will print on. At first, that will all seem like a great amount of money, which can contradict what was stated above, but, that is all that is mostly needed to buy once. The program will have brushes, strokes, colors, and other materials included. These supplies have amazing effects that are able to imitate the real materials, such as how watercolor bleeds on paper. So, all the artist really needs to purchase is the printing materials each time they make new art. Another beneficial trait to digital painting, is that there is no mess included because in the program, there is a tab called the color palette which acts like a real palette where an artist mixes their colors. If a mistake occurs, they are able to undo or fix it very easily because it has these digital channels that are called layers. In the layers, pieces of the artwork can be worked on and if there is an error or mistake,

Impressionists took to the outdoors in order to put the impression of light and shadows on canvas as well as the density of air. Their goal was to catch their first fleeting reaction to objects at a particular moment in time, as if it was a snap shot. The artist became less interested in the nature of the object he or she was painting and more interested in the appearance of the object in a particular moment; the flickering of light at dawn, sun setting on the water a foggy morning. In order for impressionist’s to capture these moments in time they typically used rapid short hasty brush strokes to capture their immediate response to a subject. They used color side by side on the canvas to achieve vivid colors by allowing the viewer to mix the colors optically instead of premixing colors on a palette. They often used the technique of impasto in favor of glazes, leaving out detail allowing their paintings to have softer edges and suggest rather than define. This lead people to believe their painting were…

He also pursued the discovery that complementary colors can optically mix to yield far more vivid tones of color that can be achieved by mixing paint. He created other ambitious paintings but none can compare to it, because he used a completely different technique called “divisionism” but later known as “pointillism” which emphasizes on painting small dots of pure color to form an image on canvas.…

Neoclassicism, Impressionism and Abstract Expression all have their own style. Each is from a different era and reflect on different subjects. Neoclassicism was part of the European art movement during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The inspiration for this movement comes from thr classical art and culture of ancient Greece or ancient Rome. Neoclassic Artwork is very unemotional. In this type of artwork, artists or painters used very sombre or dull colors. Often artists that painted in the Neoclassical style painted historical figures or people in classic history. Artwork of this style was very detailed and defined as well as accurate to the era they were representing. Neoclassical Art is very personal and honorable. All of this is reflected brilliantly in the piece “The Emperor Napoleon in His Study at the Tuileries” by Jaques Louis David. The attention to detail in this painting really brings it to life and makes those viewing it feel as if they are looking at Napoleon in person.…

How can the artistic medium one chooses to use to express oneself determine whether or not it is truly art? While digital artists’ artistic ability is often questioned and the credit is given to the computer being used, the art itself springs from the mind of the digital artist. I can say this with personal fervor: Digital art is truly in essence a form of art that merely takes advantage of the innovations of modern technology.…
