List and Explain 3 different types of work teams
Project Teams: a project team is simply a group of employees that work together to achieve a common goal. This type of work group can be on either a temporary or a permanent basis depending on the particular task. Usually, when a short-term project ends so does the team formed to achieve it. However, there are instances where specific team scan be formed to be permanent such as a hospital’s steering committee or law enforcement’s task force (Wilson’s Perspective Diary, 2013).
Cross-Functional Teams: a cross-functional work team consists of several different employees that members are each from different departments or different areas from within the organization. Either they can be the organization’s primary form of its management structure, or they can be in addition to the businesses main hierarchical structure. By using cross-functional teams, a business can improve the coordination and integration of the goal to its employees. They could also help to create cooperation, which could allow an organization to obtain an increase in customer satisfaction and achieving their corporate goals all at the same time (Education Portal, 2014).
Self-Directed Teams: self-directed teams also known as self- managed teams generally include two or more people who are responsible for achieving a specific goal. They are responsible for the entire project including the business operations with little to no input from a manager or supervisor. They manage their own workload and it is their responsibility to produce the goods or services necessary to achieve the goal.
