Differences Between America and the Bahamas

Tasting both sides of these two countries; that is America and the Bahamas, gives a helping hand when trying to contrast them. Though they are not that far away from each other, their differences make them seem like they were on opposite sides of the world. Some obvious differences would be that the United States is way bigger and more populated, more historic and other things like that, but I’m going to go through about three major differences that many people do not know too much about. Having my elementary, middle school and freshman year of high school education in the Bahamas, then going on my sophomore year to senior year in the United States gave me a plentiful amount of incite on how both school systems operate. Disciplinary actions would be my first point of interest. Schools in America have such things as ‘In School Suspension’ for a student that does not conduct themselves accordingly to the rules, whereas in the Bahamas a student would be beaten with either a ruler or a certain type of cane a few times. Certain laws in America oppose the act of hitting a child, but in the Bahamas the parent is allowed to discipline their child in this way, as long as they aren't severely injuring their children. Another thing about both schools is the number of students they hold. The high school I attended in the Bahamas only held about seven hundred students, while my American high school held around three thousand. Second order of business would be America and the Bahamas’s cultural differences. The people in each respective country would be the first topic. Bahamians are usually seen to be of African descent, because the Bahamas is a predominantly Black Country.
