Difference Between Mathematics And Mathematics
Most people are not familiar with the concepts of mathematics and mathematizing. Once they hear any of these terms, they connect them to education. The next discussion will attempt to shed some light on these two concepts by defining mathematics as a language. First, it will define these two terms with examples. It will then point out various differences between mathematics and mathematizing while giving examples. Finally, it will elaborate the importance of both concepts to humans and how they have affected people over time.
Mathematics is a science that deals with logics, quantity and arrangement of things and people around us. In addition, mathematics can be considered a language on its own as it has its own discreetness as well as arbitrariness (Fosnot & Dolk, 2001). Every activity we partake in must revolve around mathematics. The discipline was discovered over 5000 years ago to enable man keep track of various logics and keep track of his activities. The simple tasks we carry out every day require knowledge on mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Mathematics may be complex or simple depending on the scenario at hand (Fosnot & Dolk, 2001). Right from birth, we require mathematical knowledge to be able to tell time, count people, divide goods among people and give balances among several other tasks. In schools, students are taught mathematical skills which tend to advance as they go to higher levels of their education. It reaches a point whereby one may decide to indulge in complex mathematical problems, in accordance to the discipline they have decided to pursue.
