What is a World Music? According to Carl Rahkonen, 1994, can be a traditional (folk), popular or even art music but it must have ethnic or foreign elements. According to Dale Olsen Ideally the music of the whole Earth including the European art traditions but in practice however, it is music from outside of the European art traditions. In this given assignment, I’ll be making a comparison in terms of Instrumentation, Music Texture, Form, Performance Practice and Functions Of Music on this two types of music from different background, Sufism Dhikir Ceremony and Tarian Sewang Orang Asli “Sufism is the name given to mysticism in Islam. The term Sufism embraces the philosophy and practices which aim at direct communion between God and man, those who practice Sufism are called Sufis.”

Dhikr Ceremony is where a group of Sufis will gather together and begin a series of chanting, either of the ninety-nine names of Allah, or just simply of the name of Allah himself, until the devotees collapse in a state of trance. The famous "whirling dervishes" obtain their name and fame from this very ceremony. Today it has become a tradition for numerous followers of Sufism, who know nothing of true Sufism or a deep spiritual quest coupled with acts of self-discipline to attain to a higher state of s pirituality, to seek purely the supposed state of "ecstasy" that can be obtained through regular concentration on and recitation of the name and attributes of
