Although there are many foods to choose from between Burger King and Subway, knowing what is healthy and unhealthy can help you make a better choice. Many of us are probably familiar with the fast food restaurants known as Burger King and Subway, but do we really know what is healthier for our bodies? One of Burger Kinds most popular sandwich is, the BK Big Fish. This one sandwich is made up of a deep fried fish patty that is lathered in tartar sauce. This is also served on a sesame seed bun, with a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato. This one sandwich alone contains 640 calories, 32 grams of fat, and well over 1,540 mg of sodium. If you think this is bad, back in 2012, the country of Japan came out with their “Meat Monster burger.” Dean Praetorius stated, “ while the companies press release, stresses the “Have it Your Way” mentality, stressing that all options are required (no patty, chicken etc.) the full sandwich its self, looks impressive, until you read the calorie count.” This one sandwich is made up with two beef patties, bacon, cheese, and a fried chicken patty. Now, if you got the mouth, watering sensation, I can change that really quickly. This one sandwich has over 1,000 calories. More like a monster attack I think. Even though Burger King has every item to build this one sandwich, it has actually been ruled out since the high rate we have in obesity in America. Even though most of Burger Kings menu has high calories and fat in their items, there are still a few healthier choices you can make for your diet. By Consuming so many calories, fats, and carbs and cholesterol, you are increasing your chances of high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, heart attack, and sometimes even a chronic illness as your age progresses. Sometimes, the worst thing that can happen is death. I am sure none of us want this to happen, so it is really something to think about next time you have your mind set on a fast food place. Even though many fast food places are known not to be so healthy, there is one fast food place that contains so many different kinds of healthy items. This healthier restaurant is known as Subway. Subway has actually been known to help people lose weight, and lose it quick. However, like Burger King, Subway has sandwich’s, which means they are all served on bread, and we all know that the bread is where most of our carbs come from. One of Subways healthier subs is the 6 inch sub on 9-grain whole wheat bread, with lettuce and tomato. This 6 inch Turkey Sub contains only 280 calories, 4 grams of fat and only 5 grams of carbs. Just this one sub is cutting more than half of your carbs and calories, then the Whopper at Burger King. By ordering your subs on a whole wheat bread, is actually cutting carbs tremendously, rather than getting stuck with the sesame seed bun at Burger King. Subway also has many healthy sides compared to BK. Subway does not have French fries as a side, but they have sliced apples, plus a side of soup or salad, and of course a bag of fried, or baked potato chips. Even though Subway is one of our healthier fast food places, there are a few things on the menu that are unhealthier. For example, the Pastrami Melt Sub. This 6 inch sub that is usually served on white bread contains 580 calories, 31 total grams of total fat, and well over 1,330 mg of sodium. Now this is obviously not the worst thing on their menu, compared to Burger King, but it is certainly not Subways healthiest. When we are eating Subway, it is basically a build your own sub, we really want to avoid white, or five cheese breads, and stick to a whole wheat, or a 9-grain whole wheat. Something else to think about is mustard over mayo, and even the vinegar and oils. So with all of this being said, I hope now people will know what is healthy and unhealthy between the fast food restaurants of Burger King and Subway.
