Did Slaves Build the Great Pyramids?
Erin Parker pd.3odd Did slaves build the pyramids in Egypt? From information, it shows that there were some slaves working on the pyramids. The reasoning for this conclusion comes from information in documents A and B, document C, document D, and document E. In documents A and B they say that that, yes slaves did build the pyramids. One line in document A that shows slaves built the is "Cheops became king... closed all the temples and forced all the egyptians to work for him.". An example from document B is
"100,000 lashdriven men poured their sweat and blood for twenty years...". It says that the men were 'lashdriven', which some would infer slaves. Secondly, in document C it says that there were no slaves at all working on the Great
Pyramids of Giza. In the document it specifically states that workers were paid and had honorable burials. Hawass said "No way they would be buried so honorably if they were slaves". Thirdly, from document D it says gangs built the pyramids. Some archaeologists believe this because on the stones above the king chamber it would have a cartouche, an oval hieroglyphic used for names of Kings and Queens, and then a hieroglyphic of a gang name in red paint. Finally, document E is not sure whether slaves were used or not. They don't know because they don't know how many people worked on the pyramids. They also don't know if the slaves were even buried or just left to rot. Also in document E it says "there seems so far to be no direct archaeological evidence for the presence of slaves; but since they are not often honored with tombs, they can be hard to trace.". In conclusion of all the documents used they can't say for sure whether slaves were used to build the Great Pyramids of Giza or if slaves were not used, and we may never know if slaves were or were not used to build the pyramids in Egypt.

Secondly, who wrote each document. The first document is written by a white official who show's clear racial bias, that was common for free whites in that time. He says things such as, “The Carolina Planters... did not torture one Negroe, but only put them to an easy death.” (2). He is clearly lessening the importance of the death of the slaves, and making the Carolina Planters out to be heroes for stopping these slaves. In contrast, the second document is written by the great-great-grandson of one of the supposed leaders of the rebellion. This means that they are much less likely to discriminate the slaves due to their race of position like a free white in that time would be. One similarity is that both people are far enough removed from the situation, which helps with the reliability of each document.…

First is slavery, slavery has been around for years and has shaped American history today as we know it and has shaken and took the world by storm by the impact it brings African-American’s to this very day. In (Document A) we see that the French and German have pretty much taken over Africa and are using them. This would be shown in (Document B) where it says “German nation is fundamentally so very capable, so seaworthy, so industrially and commercially minded”.The French were taken over the African’s land because they had money power and force. The building of pyramids first started around 2700 B.C. when the first step pyramid was built for King Zoser in Saqqara, Egypt. Ever since then, pyramids have been commonly associated with Egyptian society. There were various types of pyramids, including (but not limited to) Mastabas, step-pyramids, and the bent-pyramid. Mastabas were not the true pyramid shape, neither were step-pyramids or the bent-pyramid for that matter. Mastabas were shaped similarly to pyramids, but were flat-topped and had sloping sides. Step pyramids were essentially just Mastabas piled on top of one another because, like the name implies, they consisted of "steps" going all the way to the top of the structure. The bent-pyramid was Egypt's first attempt…

The Pyramids of Giza are located in Giza, Egypt. Three of the largest pyramids located there are Menkaura, Khafra, and Khufu. “The three pyramids at Giza are visible from space (“Great Pyramid” Data 44)” “These pyramids of Giza, Egypt, famous not only for their stupendous size and dramatic shape, but also for the astonishing skill with which they were built thousands of years ago (“Pyramids of Giza”42)”. The purpose of these pyramids was to function as monument tombs for pharaohs. The construction of the pyramids was elaborate. Stones weighing an average of two-and-a-half tons were pulled to their place on sleds with the help of at least thirty men. No powered equipment was available to them. Not to mention, the pyramid was hard to get around.…

Aliens built the Egyptian pyramids. Recent research supports the theory that the Pyramids were built long before humans inhabited the area now known as Egypt. It is also nearly impossible for the Egyptians to have lifted and moved the limestone brick used to build these massive structures. Only a more advanced form of life could have constructed such an enormous undertaking, while using advanced mathematics and geography that were not yet known to ancient peoples.…

Ancient alien theorists believe that thousands of years ago aliens arrived on the earth to share their knowledge about science and engineering. Therefore, it is often believed that they would be the only ones able to create such a marvelous structure (“Ancient”). Many people sided with the argument, and many still do today. It may seem the only logical explanation for the construction of the pyramids. Also, some believe that slaves built the Egyptian pyramids, but recently tombs were discovered that disproved the idea. Archaeologists were able to conclude that the people who built the pyramids were not in facts slaves, but builders from poor Egyptian families who were respected for their work and fed well (Kratovac). Although these theories pertained to all the pyramids, they were most relevant to the popular pyramids in…
