Did Germany cause the war?

Who and what started World War 1? The verdict that I agree with of who started World War 1 is: “All of the major powers helped to start the war. They should share the blame.” I think this because one nation can not simply declare war at a country without knowing the consequences. If several countries declare war on each other then this is possible. This is my opinion but many people have other thoughts. World War One left 9,906,000 soldiers dead, 21,219,000 soldiers wounded and 7,750,000 soldiers missing. It was a conflict between the Allied Powers (France, Russia, Britain, Italy and the United States), and the Central Powers (Germany, Austria Hungary and the Ottoman Empire) (Alliances). The main causes of the war were the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, militarism, imperialism, Morocco 1904, Bosnia 1908 and the Balkan Wars.
World War I started because of the contests between the powers of Europe and the loathing between the alliances. All countries were putting pressure on each other. When countries joined alliances the opponent would get worried and would then get others to join. This was the tinder for the War. All that was left to do, was to light the fire. In this case the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand from the Austro-Hungarian empire was the lighter. The first cause of World War One took place on June 28, 1914. Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb student, shot and killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his wife (Archduke Franz Ferdinand). Princip belonged to a group called the Black Hand, who wanted Serbia to be independent from Austria Hungary. Austria Hungary demanded Serbia to punish those responsible for the assassination. When Serbia failed to comply, Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. Since Serbia was an ally of the Allied Powers, the Allied Powers declared war on Austria Hungary. This, in effect, meant a

As Archduke Franz Ferdinand heirs his throne along with his wife Sophie during the summer of June 28, they were shockingly assassinated by a Serbian native Gravilo Princip. This occurrence led to which we all know as World War 1. This incident struck worldwide as to where many countries took notice as established to declare war. The first country to do so was Austria-Hungary declaring on Serbia in July 28. Different countries declared war amongst each other which continued until late August in 1914. By then, the nation was under full effect as 3rd world countries declared war and allies were tagging along to destroy one another. This frenzy corrupted the government control by far typically because the war got out of control and went far beyond their expectations of a short war that would be over by Christmas. The government was disorganized and had no idea how to manage the war and the differences in this war compared to wars fought in the past.…

After World War I ended more than 9 million soldiers had been killed and about 21 million soldiers were wounded. The two nations that were effected most in the war were Germany and France. The first reason for the eruption of World War I was militarism. Militarism is the act of building up armies for threats against other countries – taking over new territory – and protection from other countries who decide to invade. In the 1900's, the two strongest countries – Germany and Britain – decided to create a Naval Race. While Germany had a stronger ‘ground' army, Britain had better naval protection with Dreadknought class ships. Because of this advantage, Germany decided to outdo Britain and build their own Dreadknought class battleships. As both countries tried to build more battleships than the other, tensions rose and tempers flared. When Germany and Britain finally stopped building their battleships, they had nothing to do but wait. Neither country wanted to be responsible for purposely starting a conflict between the countries, but both wanted to prove their strength and power through war. When a Serbian assassinated the Archduke of Austria-Hungary, Germany and Britain were finally able to show off their marvelous defense at the expense of millions of innocent people. It is clear that militarism exposed the worst qualities of the German and British Empires, which set the stage for one of the worst wars to ever be experienced by humankind.…

Some historians argue that blame for WW1 is with Germany, through her aggressive foreign policy, whilst others believe it to be with Austria-Hungary for instigating the clash in the Balkans, which eventually, it is argued, created war. Many believe it was the effect of colonial imperialism, and greed that compelled the world leaders to launch an attack enhancing their individual status in the balance of European and World-power. The issue of blame is one which has caused vast controversy throughout history, and was controversially re-opened in the 1960’s by Fischer. Other theories include, the impact of trade rivalry on tension between powers and in launching the arms race thus reinforcing the competition for power and deterioration of relations. It is evident that the decision makers of 1914 were influenced by the tensions built up in the previous twenty years.…

Nationalism and extreme patriotism were significant contributing factors to the outbreak of World War I. Many countries in Europe, including the Great Powers had developed a belief that their country was superior and powerful. This confidence led to a fatal misconception within Europe: that in the event of war, your own country would be victorious in a few short months. This made the citizens of a country become convinced of two things: that their nation and their government were right and that their military would win any conflict. Arguably, nationalism led to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, the trigger cause of World War One. Serbia had had sour relations with Austria-Hungary since the beginning of the 20th century. Serbia was part of the Austria-Hungary empire but in around 1904, Serbia wanted to expand so it decided to break free…

There was not one single cause of World War 1; many chaotic events lead up to it. Although the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand sparked the war, there were many other incidents that caused the tension that influenced his murder. Three major contributions gave rise to the war: imperialism, nationalism, and the new alliances. If these things had not happened, the war may not have occurred or may have turned out very differently.…

War is expensive. When World War One was over, Germany had sunk over 37 billion US dollars (estimated) . Only 6% of this was paid for by taxes ; borrowing covered the rest. This act of borrowing put Germany in a precarious spot before the war was even underway. By the time the war was over, Germany was even worse off. Not only was their national debt at record highs, but also they were forced to pay immense war reparations, and national pride was at an all time low. Together, this caused the perfect storm leading to economic collapse and one of the worst cases of hyperinflation in history.…

World War I has a debatable issue about how the war was started. Some believe that each nation started it equally but I believe it was from a different cause. Austria-Hungary’s harsh act against Serbia and Germany’s unneeded declaration of war against Russia and France actually cause World War I. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia to quickly and then Germany declared wars on nations because it was “defending itself” even though it just wanted to gain more territories and use its large military. These rash acts caused the whole world to plummet into the largest war man had ever seen.…
