Diary Entry 1:
My name is Winston Smith and I think it is the year 1984, but I’m not really sure, for this matter no one is really sure of that. I’m a member of the outer party of INGSOC, live in Oceania and I work for the Ministry of Truth.
What I’m writing today is a story that should never be told, as it should have never happened. Our house should be a place where we feel safe, our shelter and not our prison. Neighbors and colleagues should be our friends, people we can trust, not enemies and spies. We should live in a world where there should be love, instead of hate. Today I write down my thoughts, so future generations will know that everything that is happening is wrong and since it’s too late for my generation to change things maybe, someone in the future, reading this diary will learn a lesson and change the situation. They will have to learn the importance of freedom of speech and act. They will have to learn the great power of love and friendship, and always fight for what they believe in and never give up, but remembering to fight only if necessary because war isn’t the way to solve problems, it just creates more. Ignorance is not strength, it is the right opposite, in fact, it’s helplessness, it leads to darkness, but most important of all it shows the weakness of mankind. You who one day, in the far future will read my dairy, here is my story, I hope this will help to prevent such ignorance to happen ever.
None of us exactly knows how it all happened, I can’t remember even when. The only thing I can remember is that I served the party my whole life. Everyone I know was thought to serve the party and didn’t dare to oppose. As I became an adult, like every adult you have future expectations and goals for your life, but in our society these objectives are the same for everyone, and it is to serve the party, and today this is still what I do, every day of my life. We are indeed constantly reminded that there is nothing more important

In 2006, a great piece of literature was written, its name: World War Z by Max Brooks. This book documents the survivors of the World War Z apocalypse; while of course this book is fictional it draws you in and will at times make you feel like you are reading a piece of non-fictional literature. This is what fascinated me most by it. Not only did the book draw you in with its non-fictional fiction style, its theme draws on a central problem on us as humans today. We are ignorant, in whole or in part, regardless if there are many or few. It’s sad that we are that way today, from all the wars to all the bomb threats that are thrown around annually by almost anybody and everybody because its “fear” that runs us as a society today. World War Z by Max Brooks brilliantly shows this theme and expands on it to reach deep inside the human psyche to reveal our dark, segregated minds.…

P4.1- I have been involved in identifying hazards in my setting, such as in the water play area, the children accidently spilling water on the floor from splashing the water out of the water bowl and from trying to experiment with pouring and filling bottles. Therefore, because this happened I proceeded to use in initiative and clean up the spillage on the floor. The procedure I had took in this situation was that I asked the children to step away from the puddle on the floor and I informed one other staff about what I had seen and asked if they can keep an eye on children while I went to go and get a mop or a towel to clean up the spilt area. I then went to collect the appropriate facilities and clean up the wet area so the children would not slip over and hurt themselves. Once I had cleaned it all up I changed the clothes of a child, as they was wet from playing in the water and it hen put a dry towel on the floor so if there is another spillage, the towel will keep it fairly dry.…

In 1984, the Party is responsible for controlling the thoughts and emotions of the citizens of Oceania to prevent individuality. Telescreens surround Oceania so they have a glimpse into the way their citizens think to ensure that they do not rebel against the Party. Everyone is wired to think and act a certain way, and “nothing was [their] own except the few cubic centimetres inside [their] skull” (Orwell 27). Winston is one of the few people in Oceania who is actually aware of the Party’s true intentions, which is why he is considered unorthodox. Unlike the Party, Winston believes that everything from the past is significant since it provides a connection to the world where Big Brother and the Party do not exist. Winston…

On Friday, March 28, 2003, Richard Okumoto intently studied a set of hard-copy accounting documents called “adjusting journal entries” spread out on his desk. He had been appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (ESI), a multi-million dollar equipment manufacturer, just a few weeks earlier. Okumoto was in the midst of closing the company’s books for the third quarter of fiscal year 2003, which ended February 28.…

It’s not fair! It’s just not fair! What was Dumby’s fault? Why him? Why does god always have to punish the good? I understand that Dumby was wrong by breaking into the pub, but it’s not his fault. He was upset because he didn’t get the McRae medal for best on ground, and his stupid cousin took advantage of that. Couldn’t Big Mac see that it was Dumby? Dumby doesn’t deserve to die like this. He was good from the heart. He was the one who helped me the time when our team was playing against Tangaratta, and Mad Dog (a hopeless but strong player from their team) had me in a headlock, while bashing me like and idiot. No one helped me, I cried to the others for help so many times but they just stood there, frozen, scared and not wanting…

I am so very delighted that I can communicate with you. I would like to stress that this is a great honor for me. In the novel 1984 I strongly believe you play one of the outstanding roles. The reason for writing this letter to you is that I have read the novel and analyzed every character. More by the leading roles Winston , O’Brian I am most impressed by you. Foolish of me I should have introduced myself earlier. My name is Bazardari Narmandakh, I am 18 years, and in my last year of school. To get back to the point.…

I was trudging across dreaded communications trench, feet and clothes damp and cold. The mud had gone hard as it was crunching under my worn out, over sized boots. I was considered lucky to even get boots. It was a narrow trench that was shared by many young and innocent soldiers who were limping to the fatal front line; I looked up into the sullen and weary eyes of a petrified soldier with curly black hair like a plate of broken noodles. His clothes were tired and filthy with a foul and putrid stench. He looked stunned and dark eyed and at that moment he limped and crawled away, so obviously had just been to the front line. At that second I jumped slightly in anxious fear as I heard rifle fire and machine-gun fire in the distance, the fear and darkness was beginning to penetrate my body. There was a crackling pop of the flares going up and lighting up the dull and rainy sky above that made my eyes aware that it was nearing afternoon. I felt extremely discomfited and miserable missing home. I was close to the front line. I heard a large boom followed by screams and then silence. I was smart enough to know what that meant. Soldiers suffered slowly and steadily. Anxious. That’s all I felt right now.…

My life is a sea of endless hardship. Struggling to open my heavy eyes, I began my busy day. After finishing my routine job drowsily before the first lark awaked, I had to clean the grand villa inside and out, finish washing piles of dirty clothes and prepare breakfast for the whole family. One after another, they got up and went downstairs, wearing tired expressions on their faces, as if they had done household chores for a whole night instead of sleeping comfortably in the soft and warm bed. I smiled a smooth smile towards all of them, although I wanted to tear at them in the deep bottom of my heart. All of them ill-treat me, including my mother, who is my dear mother, but my master now. Since she divorced with my father, my carefree childhood has become a piece of bittersweet history covered with dust. This grand villa is like a crystal palace to others, however, it is the hell full of misery to me. “God Damn! You fool must have shirked on the cleaning…” Peter, the son of my mother and her present husband, found a dead fly lying in a tiny corner of the washroom and jumped with anger. Before my explanation and realization, he gave me a slap on the cheek. In the mist of my eyes, I caught a slight smile on my mother.…
