My Goal for the Future I am at this point and time working on my degree in Health Informatics. What I hope to accomplish is to be certified in CCA/RHIT and have my associate in Applied Science. This degree will open the door for a number of different jobs in the medical field such as Nursing Home Manager, Clinic Manager, Healthcare Manager, and Assist Administrator. This is a growing field and as time continues the need for Informatics specialist will increase. My ideal job would be at a VA long term care facility. I have a soft spot for geriatrics’ and the care that they receive. I realize that in this job that I won’t always have direct contact with the residents but I will have help in controlling the medical care and benefits they receive. Some of the job duties that a Business Office Manager (BOM) include meeting and attending Govern board meetings, finance management for the facility, healthcare records security and accurateness , also reporting census ,bed counts, death rates. As a BOM you will wear many different hats and may have to change hats at the blink of an eye. So let’s break down some of these duties to better understand what a BOM really does. First let’s look at what it takes to report facility census, this is a report that is turned in to the government and corporation to help figure out the amount of funding and figure the scheduling of appropriate staffing. There is a formula to figure this out for each facility the formula used for average daily inpatient census is: total inpatient service days for a period / total number of days in period. There are statistical formulas for many thing in a Healthcare facility, bed occupancy Ratio/percentage is one that is used regularly the formula for this is total inpatient service day in a period x 100 / total bed count days in the period. Example: On June 1, 170 inpatient service days were provided in a 200-bed facility, the bed
