Develop Good Study Habits
During the past few years, students who maintain good study habits are becoming fewer and fewer. Social activities become more important than staying at home and study. Believe me; developing good habits these days are hard. With all the cool new stuff around, who wouldn’t want to skip studying and go explore this stuff? You may have had the habit of “play first before pay” Students these days consider studying as hassle, even though we’ve been lectured on how education is important to us. You may have realized that it’s time to develop good study habits. It’s never too late to develop good study habits, unless of course, you’re not studying anymore. Development takes time, especially when you’re trying to replace an old habit with a new one, as it turns out, developing good study habits from your former ineffective study habits will be considered as a rehab. When developing good study habits, you have to set time for everything. Plan a daily schedule. With all the activities you need to do such as assignments and projects, you can’t just remember them. Writing them down, and planning when to do it will be the most effective way to remember things. Even though you have a skill in remembering all those things, doing them in all one shot will only bring mediocre results. Also, taking notes in class is important, but we must always take notes with readable font because if you can’t read your notes, it’s pretty much useless. Notes are important; it helps you survive surprise tests, even not so surprising ones. If you’re going to develop good study habits, you should make it a habit of organizing your notes, and flipping over them every once in a while. Another effective thing to do with your notes, is to color code them. You can code them for each subject for example. Also, keep in mind to have a place for them. Making a schedule also helps in students’ main problem – procrastination. Procrastination has been the biggest problem of high school students nowadays. A

According to Palm Beach Community College (PBBC, 2008),they recommend that student’s study should have at least three hours outof class for every hour spent in class. They also said that a student must havea special place to study with plenty of room to work. And students should notbe cramped. They presupposes that study time will go better if a learner takea few minutes at the start to straighten things up. A desk and straight-backedchair is usually best. “ Don't get too comfortable--a bed is a place to sleep, notto study” as what they said. A student must have everything close at hand(book, pencils, paper, coffee, dictionary, computer, calculator, tape recorder, etc.) before starting to study. Students are not suggested to spend on time jumping up and down to get things. The PBCC suggests also that distractingnoise should be minimized however they said that there are some peopleneed sound and some like silence. In this case, a learner must finds whatworks for him or her. That means he/she should eliminate allexternal and internal distractions. Second, get a good overview of theassignment before starting the work. Time management is one of the most important things that can be crucial in keeping good grades. I’ve been known to do things at the last minute which is a very bad habit. With many distractions around you It's is very easy to put things off for later. I’ve learned to do my assignments when I first get them rather than later so I don’t get behind and not giving into peer pressure to go out all the time. Some strategies you can use for time management are getting a calendar and staying organized. Also you can get a to-do list and cross of items once you have finished or completed them. Scheduling things in a proficient manner will give you time to do everything you need to and not at the last minute. Break big jobs into smaller ones to manage your time and studying. With everything I’ve learned in time management I now write everything important down and do them one at a time until I’ve completed what I needed to…

As a college student I know personally that being a good student is difficult, if you don’t take the time to study. Sometimes it’s hard to make time for studying, and often students lose their motivation to study, but this still isn’t an excuse. This is why a good study routine is necessary to get the grade you desire on those agonizing exams. Don’t wait until the last minute to cram for a test, after pulling an all-nighter watching zombie apocalypse movies on Netflix. It won’t help to know how to kill a zombie when you sit down for that test. If you follow the simple steps to creating an effective study routine, you will get the good grades you need for a degree in college, and also learn the importance of making the time to study for your exams. Mastering an effective study routine is necessary throughout your educational career to obtain the good grades you will need for a college degree.…

The first step to becoming a successful student is establishing excellent study techniques. In research of strategies for success, findings from Creed and Kuncel (2008) indicate that “the relationship between personality and academic performance is mediated by study attitudes and habits”(p.440). Through a little bit of research I have found a few helpful study habits. Practice testing is always a good way to study. The more frequently individuals do self-practice tests the better because it is less information to cover. If you do not want to go to the extreme of making up a full test, flash cards are always a good alternative. Distributed study is another good strategy to learn. Instead of reading all five chapters in a textbook the night before class, students who use the distributed work technique will disperse the reading and associate work evenly throughout the week. Portioning the work out over time will minimize stress and allow more free time to be able to accomplish daily tasks that need to be completed. Finally, building daily routine helps to keep students on top of all their assignments. If you set a specific time i.e. 6PM to 7PM daily, to work on/complete assigned tasks you will not have to scramble in order to complete your work.…

Many of us think we have more to do than we have time to do, and studying gets shortchanged. It is important to prepare a schedule of daily activities that include time slots for doing the studying you have to do. Within each study slot, write the specific study activity; for example, “ Red Unit 6 In Modern Writing, answer Questions 1-10.” Keep the schedule flexible so that it can be modified if you meet your study goals early- - or late.…

“He who devotes sixteen hours a day to study hard may become as wise at sixty as he thought himself at twenty” – Mary Wilson Little. Effective study habits are essentials in achieving excellent marks in school. For a student like me, it plays an important role in our learning process. But to give sixteen hours a day is little hard because earth rotates 24 hours a day only. It is not like that we will sit in a chair and study for the entire day. That is why I posted my daily time schedule on our wall to manage my time everyday and allot moments for studying and doing assignments. I’m trying to be more organized but honestly, my allotted time in studying is sometimes corrupted. Aside from that, I have a small notebook where my daily assignments are written. While in the class, I am writing down new assignments and upcoming tests in that notebook so that I will not be able to forget doing it. When I come home from school, I will not have to search through all of our lecture notes to find assignments because it is listed together in the same place. When I have accomplished the task, I will put a check beside it. I am keeping an eye on big assignments or the hardest homework and those that consume longer time. I prefer to study in a quiet area so that I am concentrated and work it fast. I avoid distractions such as facebook, television, cellphone and music. Some people can work better with music but I can’t. If there is extra time left, I read chapters in advance because it is better if I am not doing it under the deadline pressure. Finally, I review our previous lessons or just think about what I have learned on that day before going to bed.…

During high school, I did not have to study as hard as I do now that I am in college. Usually, I would study the day before the test and score a hundred percent. Although, I would be able to skip a few classes and get the notes from a classmate or of course, resort to guessing. However, now that I’m in college, the lectures require much more attention and are more complex. Composing more information, meaning that one has to proportion time more responsibly and develop good study habits. My learning skills have greatly changed since I have been in college. I learn new things, and I actually enjoy learning new things. Nevertheless, these changes required a lot of self control, practice, and time management. Going through these experiences have changed my entire view about learning such as study habits, being more alert during classes, and going through greater extents to succeed in all of my classes.…

Study skills are necessary in order to receive satisfactory grades in school. One way to improve study skills is by studying for a certain amount of time each day in order to ensure that the knowledge will be retained. For example, if one wanted to receive a commendable grade in their AP Psychology class, then they would take a certain amount of time each night to study the proper terms and main points for the section for which they are learning. Spacing out your studying proves to be more beneficial than studying the night before the test, as one has the opportunity to review class materials several times a week, focusing on one topic at a time. New information can be absorbed more easily when studying this way. It is evident that in order to improve study skills, one must allot time each night to study the information learned throughout the course of the school day.…
