Despite his mean and miserable ways, we never completely dislike Scrooge. Discuss.
A Christmas carols by CHARLES DICKENS, it’s not only about the way that scrooge act as stingy and wretch, but it’s also a chance of given to make scrooge transformed to a generous and kind person. Readers denied being always hatred about scrooge. This can be separate to both sides. First scene scrooge did act as tight-fisted and cold-hearted to others, the way his talk and act makes audience disgusted. But when looking back for his past, the reader understands he has a hard childhood experience. Unfortunately scrooge was always been forgotten, therefore the audience feels sorry for him. Oppositely, by giving a chance to Scrooge to redemption and transformed to a charitable and generous gentleman.

At the beginning the audience hated Scrooge, because of his cold-hearted and mean-spirited cheapskate. “Oh! But he was tight-fisted man at the grindstone, Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, covetous old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out generous fire; secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster” he is very stubborn and doesn’t wanted to listen to his nephew Fred’s advice, and never change his mind to accept other and also to change his own fate. Also he is selfishness about ignore those poor people. “If they would rather die,” said scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.” Scrooge doesn’t care about other people’s death, and he’s greedy as hell not even spend money to celebrate Christmas time. Also he has a big house but inside the house is dark and cold, like his own personality cold-heated and miserly. But after phantom teach him a lesson, then he start to change and becomes differently.
Scrooge learns the important value about the family and relationship. Throughout the lesson that ghost has been teaching, finally Scrooge understand the true meaning of Christmas, and make himself change the behaviour that he has got on the previous Christmas day. Best example he should learn is Bob’s family. Bob is his daily employee, although his family is not rich enough (earn twenty shilling per week), but they are much happier than Scrooge. Only “small pudding” makes the whole family so happy to sit together and to have a great dinner during the Christmas Eve. Skinny sickness Tiny Tim sitting at table corner, his passionate of love “God bless us everyone” makes scrooge feel so warmth and touchful. When talking about the relationship Fred is a good example to talk about. He is so warmth and keeps Christmas in his heart every year. Every year he invites a lot of friends and relative to his house to celebrate Christmas. The relationship with each relative and friends all people comes together to celebrate on the Christmas. Fezziwig scrooge’s formerly employer makes himself thinking back about previous working time. The way fezziwig’s generous behaviour also influences Scrooge deeply. Learning Fezziwig keeping Christmas every year in his heart and invite lots of friend to have dinner. The relationship between employer and employee is not stingy with only cares about the money and work. Fezziwig letting his employer to have days off during the Christmas time it makes sense the true meaning of Christmas time and relationship between others. Throughout phantom’s lesson Scrooge understand to have a big house and earn lot of money for no use this is a shame and no beneficial, and to have these money to donate and help the poor is the best choice for Scrooge.

Scrooge is redeems and learn to be generously donate money to the poor. Reader feels so excite about Scrooge change and helping the society to increase the population. After he know that many poor people like Tiny Tim is suffering and dying in the street, he couldn’t be so careless anymore, because this well definitely influence his future or death. He understand that if he keep ignore those people and became so stingy then the consequence that he would get is been loner forever, and people would disrespect to him after him death. Therefore he takes action about helping Tiny Tim and also donates a lot of money to those poor people.
Bach from Scrooge’s childhood time it seems very difficult. The audience feel so sorry to Scrooge, because they know the long term effect to makes Scrooge changes to such a greedy and selfish person, by the way to give this opportunity to redeem and change scrooge, arise scrooge to do those donation and good thing would change his own fate and make the audience start to like him.
Life is always like that, often people learn for each of different age time, and also learns from those mistakes. Scrooge did it! He transform to a generous, and charitable as everyone know! There are both way, both good and bad. Scrooge decreasing his bad habit and action, therefore the audience very like the way scrooge transform to a “second Christmas Father”. The way he wake up becomes so happy and generously donation, but also at the start the readers did hatred about cruel action and looking that scrooge have.
