Describe The Relationship Between Perry And Kickball
On Sunday, I arrived at Tower Grove Park around 1:30 P.M. to meet Brian, Kameron, and their son. It was a nice sunny day and almost 70 degrees outside. They offered me some snacks they had brought and water. I was not hungry, but I did accept the water. They introduced me to their 8-year-old son Perry. Perry wanted to play kickball, so Kameron played kickball with him. After they finished playing kickball, Perry came over to the picnic table and wanted a snack and a juice. Brian asked him to clean his hands first with the sanitizer, but Perry said, “No, I do not want to.” When Kameron looked at Perry with a firm facial expression and direct eye contact without saying a word, Perry immediately sanitized his hands while nonetheless, frowning and pouting.

“Because it is not safe and we have snacks on the table as well, so it is not sanitary,” Brian said. “Perry get off of the table now before I have to come over there!” Kameron says. “Perry, would you like to finish playing kickball now?” Brian said. Perry gets down off the table and runs directly to Brian. Brian picked Perry up and held him as if he was a baby. I was so shocked because Perry is 8 years-old. Brian says that when they have their family “interchanges” they are not to punish or discipline Perry, but rather to listen to his feelings and concerns. They think that through these open communications they help promote a positive relationship. To me, Perry seemed very spoiled. While Brian used verbal guidance to redirect Perry, Kameron used both more dramatic, verbal, and nonverbal guidance, such as direct eye contact, facial expression, and a firm tone of
