Even though the city is more known for its bustling enterprises and shopping avenues, it boasts a rich history. In 1870, the community was first settled. Back then, it was a community of physicians and avid businessmen. After the early 1970s, the city became a popular planned community. Since then, Altamonte Springs is one of the fastest growing cities in Central Florida. With excellent employment opportunities, active town center and awesome housing choices available, this community is a top choice among new homebuyers, families and single professionals in the Orlando area.…
Naturita, Colorado is a small town of just over six hundred residents located near the Western border of the state in Montrose County. The town is situated at nearly a mile above sea level, in the valley of the San Miguel River. The area is noted for having a desert climate like nearby Southern Utah, and being surrounded by areas of greater elevation that are naturally forested. Naturita means little nature and was named by Mrs. Rockwell Blake, one of the town’s early residents, for the nature that flourished alongside the river banks in contrast to the surrounding barrenness of the desert.…
Homework assignments should be typed. The Colorado River is now being over utilized and if there were some unseen disaster this would put millions of people out of fresh water. They use the River as a plumbing system meaning that they channel the water and divert it all over the south west providing fresh water to thousands of farming acres. California how now over exceeded there its share of the allotment of fresh water taking in 800,00 acre-feet . With Utah and Nevada growing there becomes an ever increasing problem…
The growth also brought up concerns about the environment. Though not immediately addressed with regulation, the living conditions of people in larger cities were a real issue. Air pollution, clean drinking water and sewage disposal were health and safety concerns.…

Colorado is located in the mid western part of the United States, bordered by Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. “Being located as a mid-latitude interior continental state (and having the highest average elevation in the United States), combined with complex topography, results in dramatic climate differences from place to place and from year to year. From the Great Plains of eastern Colorado to the high peaks of the Rockies and the Continental Divide, to the valleys, canyons and plateaus of western Colorado, the various climates are each very different.” (CCC) The population of Colorado as a whole is 5,029,196 as of a 2010 Census estimate and the capital is Denver. Other big cities consist of Colorado Springs, Aurora, and Fort Collins.…
The relationship between civilizations and climate has always been a relatively precarious one. Society builds itself around certain environmental variables in order to survive. When the climate changes, however, the people must change their survival strategies, and even their political structure, or risk the fall of their group to the environment and other factors including warfare.…

The Colorado River is drying out which is causing problems for the people and farmers who depend on it. Farmers need this water for vital crops that are supplying the whole nation, and out of the seven states depending on the water, people need it too. The river begins in the rocky mountains and flows south into the Gulf of California. For the past fifteen years though, the river becomes a trickle of water almost fifty miles North of the Gulf of California, this is blamed on population growth, climate change, and overuse of the water. Farmers are argueing. Farmers have water rights and they feel like they’re the target because they’re using the water for very vital crops for everyone and people don’t…
I currently reside in Denver County, Colorado. I have chosen to assess and analyze this community for this assignment. Denver, Colorado is located east of the Eastern Foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Denver County is centrally located within the city of Denver, Colorado and includes the Denver International Airport located north-east of the city. The elevation of this county is 5,277 feet and therefore is nicknamed the “Mile-High City”. Denver County contains 154.9 square miles of land with a large amount of parks and rivers, of which 1.4 miles is water. (City and County of Denver, 2011).…

As global warming is getting worse so is the nature that surrounds us. More and more trees are getting cut down and more roads and buildings are going up. People litter all over the place, but what they don’t realize is, most of that trash ends up in the ocean. Our beaches are becoming dirtier and trash filled. As a member of the Surfrider foundation, I preach to keep our beaches clean. Cleaner beaches and a cleaner ocean make more a better environment because the ocean makes up about 70% of the world. As a human, would you like to sleep in trash or a pool of oil? Neither does the marine life. One of the most recent contaminations was BP’s oil spill they created. More than 8,000 birds, sea turtles, and marine mammals were found injured or dead in the six months after the spill, says the NWF (national wildlife federation). As humans, we are our own worst enemy. The reasons why some animals are extinct or endangered are because people hunted them too much. The same goes for the ocean. If you’re over fish sharks, whales, or fish there will be a long term affect that will cause them to become endangered or even extinct. This oil spill will have a long term effect on the surrounding fish and ultimately have an unbalanced food chain. If a certain fish dies off, then the superior fish will have to look for new food and essentially mess up the whole order of the food chain. “It was an accident” cannot be an excuse anymore. People need to be aware of the damages they cause to marine life and how things can vanish. That old saying “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone” applies to this scenario perfectly. People throw their trash, cigarette butts, and even banana peels where ever is convenient for them without realizing the damage they are causing to nature. Another huge effect is the great pacific garbage patch. This includes an island made up of plastic and chemical sludge that just sits and collects more trash. Because of this, there is literally no marine life…
Climate change and air pollution are intrinsically connected since greenhouse gases and air pollutants originate from the same source…
