Depop Argument Essay
I’ve always been interested in the art of buying, and selling clothes. I could spend hours rummaging through the racks of Salvation Army, or scrolling through listings on various sites. There is one app in particular that stands out to me; Depop, is a new way to buy, sell and share different items like, clothing, art, music, and electronics. This free app is so lovable because it provides an easy buying and selling platform, and it creates young entrepreneurs. Think of it as a hybrid of Instagram, and eBay. After creating a Depop account, and linking it to your Paypal account, you are ready to make a sale. To create a listing, add a few photos of your item, and a few inspiring words about the piece. The user is completely in control of the listing, and shipping price. You are only charged when you buy an item, or sell an item (Depop charges a 10% transaction fee). Once you make a sale, you never have to leave your home! Just package your item, attach the label, and throw it in your mailbox.

Seller’s use everything from selfies to street style to backgrounds, and little props to advertise their items. Personally, as a shopper, when an item looks attractive it makes me desire it even more. Since Depop does charge a 10% transaction fee, seller’s have to think critically about how much the item costs, and how much profit they would personally like to make. This is simple economics.
