Demonstrative Communication
Communication is something that we cannot live without in this world. It is how we understand one another, and it is essential to life as we know it today. Communication is verbal and nonverbal. Most people think of verbal communication first. Verbal communication involves speaking with someone face to face or by telecommunication. After verbal communication people think of nonverbal communication. Nonverbal communication involves your eyes, hands, feet, the way you stand, and your overall appearance. Nonverbal communication is said to enhance or add to a person’s verbal communication, and because of that we use nonverbal communication more often than verbal communication (Wood 2014). Demonstrative communication involves nonverbal ways of communication. This paper will detail the negative and positive effects of demonstrative communication. As well as why it is important that we use demonstrative communication.
Positive Effects of Demonstrative Communication
Demonstrative communication can have positive effect depending on how it is used and viewed. Dressing appropriately when you go on an interview can be a form of demonstrative communication that has a positive effect. When you walk into the office and look your interviewer in the eye or you give your interviewer a firm handshake. The tone in your voice when you say hello or the posture you use when you have a seat if done correctly can have a positive effect (Wood 2014). These is just a few examples of the positive effects of demonstrative communication, but there are many more. When positive demonstrative communication is done correctly it gives others a favorable impression of you. It also put others at ease when you are conveying a message to the receiver (Smith 2014). The receiver wants to listen to the sender when positive demonstrative communication is done correctly. Therefore, a part of being a successful
