The Dehumanization of Jews One of the most historical acts of evil and cruelty was the genocide of Jews in Europe executed by the Nazi party lead by Hitler. It is estimated that six to nine million Jews were killed through the use of devices such as gas chambers. One must know why an act of such evil was ever convened, how the Jewish people reacted, and how terrible genocide seized to exist. The holocaust took place preceding WWII and continued till the end of the war. The idea of killing Jewish people came from Hitler. Hitler was a German absolutist whose main goal was only Aryans “the perfect race”, live in Europe. As Hitler spent 15 months in prison, he wrote “Mein Kampf” a book containing all his ideals, morals, and goals. One of his goals was to rid Germany and eventually all of Europe of Jewish people. After attaining power, Germany was stagnant economically where inflation was so high, and currency was literally worthless, people burnt bills as a heat source. As a scapegoat, Hitler blamed Jews for the poor economy. This was the start of dehumanization and ghettoization of Jewish people in Germany and Europe in all. As the holocaust began, the lives of Jewish people began to change dramatically. In “Night” by Elie Wiesel. Elie and his family are Jewish, and for that reason get dislocated to a ghetto in Sighet.
