There are many management strategies to combat deforestation, popular choices are; legislation, ecotourism, selective logging and various tree regeneration schemes.…
The main idea of the article is the affect of deforestation on the environment, wildlife and climate change. Deforestation results in soil deterioration. Forests store nutrients that are required for all plant life. Without trees to fill these roles, many forest’s lands can quickly become barren deserts. Deforestation also impacts the habitat for million species. Majority of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. Deforestation also drives climate change. Forest soils are moist, but without protection from sun-blocking tree cover they quickly dry out. Trees also help conserve the water cycle by returning water vapor back into the atmosphere. Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. Cutting down forests will cause a decline in photosynthetic activity which results in the…
Deforestation is the third largest source of greenhouse gas emissions after coal and oil (WWF). It actually leads to more air pollution, in terms of carbon dioxide, than all the cars and trucks in the world (Scheer, Moss, 2012). Around 14 percent of the carbon emissions come from automobiles and trucks, while above 15 percent come from deforestation, according to World Carfree Network and WWF (Scheer, Moss, 2012); (WWF). Trees remove absorb carbon dioxide through the process of photosynthesis, therefore if forests are removed, the process of photosynthesis will slow down leading to higher levels of carbon dioxide. Later on, these amounts of carbon dioxide could have a negative effect on the Earth’s equilibrium (Hilderman, 2010). These effects could be present in the rising of sea levels, extreme climate change, increasing ocean acidification, etc. If people do not take action of deforestation, more than 200 tons of carbon will be in the atmosphere sooner than they expect (Scheer, Moss,…
Forests are important to the production of oxygen, which is why the need to save them is so crucial. According to www.mnn.com more than 20% of the oxygen in the world is produced in the Amazon Rain Forest. Without trees humans would not exist, not only do they produce oxygen but they filter the air we breathe. As reported by www.about.com, a mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year. Forests renew our air supply by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen. Trees also clean our atmosphere by intercepting airborne particles by absorbing ground-level ozone, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and other greenhouse gases. Stated by www.americanforest.org , a single tree can absorb 10 pounds of air pollutants a year, and produce nearly 260 pounds of oxygen- enough to support two people. Humans do not think cutting down trees here and there will make a big impact, but all the trees they cut down add up and in the end they are only hurting us. In addition to oxygen, forests help reduce global warming.…
IN ORDER TO STOP THE deforestation OF trees FROM THE rainforest ECOSYSTEM, PEOPLE NEED TO STOP using as much paper products in their household. IN ORDER TO STOP THE deforestation OF trees FROM THE rainforest ECOSYSTEM, PEOPLE NEED TO STOP using as much paper products in their household. The first part the campaign has to make people feel ashamed and guilty for deforestation of tropical rainforest. The people cutting the trees make it seem like it is good for animals and plants, but really it’s damaging the ecosystem especially animals and plants. Some of the species can go endangered or extinct, like the Chimpanzee they live in the trees to escape their predators and for a home. At least 137 species of insects, plants, and animals are going extinct. Once people realize that deforestation is bad for the ecosystem. They will feel bad for doing that to animals and plants. They will reduce the use of paper products.…
Deforestation is one of the biggest ways in which we are depleting the earth of the lungs that uses to purify the atmosphere and clean the environment of carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas that contributes to a rising global temperature. (4) The rainforest act as natural cleaners of the environment and help the atmosphere and ourselves by transforming carbon dioxide into Oxygen with the help of the Sun. Nowadays about twenty percent of the greenhouse gases are the effect of tropical rainforest deforestation alone. The way that deforestation impacts our world also affects the water cycle of earth as trees from rainforest whom used to extract groundwater from the earth and release it into the atmosphere are cut down and now unable to do so. Deforestation makes soils become eroded and thru rain…
Human beings harm against nature turns to be an undeniable issue. That has been happening in numerous ways for years, one of which is deforestation. Cutting down all the trees in a large area is called as deforestation. There are several reasons for damaging the forests. However, the most significant factor is human activities. These activities have some severe effects on forests. As indicated in “Deforestation: World Revolution”, today 31 million hectares of rain forests are destroyed every year which corresponds to area that is bigger than Poland (2003). Deforestation appears to be a significant issue and activated by following factors: shifting cultivation, commercial logging and clear-cutting.…
The effects of deforestation on the environment are numerous. The reduction of forests upsets the entire ecological cycle. The forests are home to a number of plants and animals. When a forest is cut down, the whole cycle suffers. Most of all the forests act as a carbon "sink". That is they help to take in carbon, a green house gas, and offset its effect on the atmosphere. Also trees and plants on a forest can help to supply an alternative source of fossil fuels. Tree planting is also good for urban development. They…
To illustrate my point, when the land is damaged because of deforestation, the chances for regeneration of plants and the species habitat are in danger. The chopping and cutting down of trees on a continuous base damage and kill the seeds natural reproduction,…
This chapter was very informative and gave a lot of information about the reasons of deforestation. I knew that logging and agriculture were major causes of deforestation, but this chapter taught me that mining too is also a big factor. The author was very knowledgeable about this subject and wrote in a way that was very easy to understand. This chapter also gave a very thorough explanation of the impacts of deforestation on the lands. Through this chapter, the author explains how just because a few trees are cut down, the water supply diminishes and can lead to drought as well as many other issues that I did not know about. This is probably my favourite source about this deforestation problem as it was easy to understand and the author did not drag out his writing and got to the point very quickly. It was a good read!…
Deforestation is an issue we need to fix. I would like to spend 100,000 dollars on deforestation because some of the trees that are being cut down are thousands of years old. “Any fool can destroy trees”(John Muir, “The American Forests,” Atlantic Monthly, August, 1897) Above all this, one fact remains the same, we need trees to live. If we destroy all the trees in the world, we are left with harsh living conditions for ourselves. Our forests should be preserved if we want a better nation.…
Deforestation is a construction that human cut down the trees to make land available for other uses. It is also considered to be one of the contributing factors to global climate change. Without trees, forestlands can quickly become barren land. We are losing the oxygen produced by the trees and it takes hundreds of years in the making to grow another one. Nowadays, each country is facing the deforestation problems. Looking at the core concept of deforestation in Amazon through both sides, we can find its causes and effects.…
Nowadays, there are many global problems happening day by day; It’s because of the developing of technologies and financial and some other reasons. My research topic is reasons and solutions about deforestations.…
We humans cause deforestation by cutting down trees for fuel, paper, and other products. The use of wood and charcoal only adds to the already vast amount of polluted gases in the atmosphere. Deforestation is another cause and effect meaning we should protect our trees to stop the greenhouse effect, and so we can breathe. The leading factors for deforestation is the need for space for homes and buildings, and soil erosion.…
Finally, we can see clearly the bad effects from deforestation. If this problem still happen, our forest will be damaged and vanish. In that case, our next generation will not have a chance to know all these valuable flora. So that, government and people should work together to overcome this…
