Once someone has an event of some sort; for example, being in a horrible relationship after that relationship is over, you have learned that you most likely never want to be in a situation like that again. Another learning lesson; meeting someone for the first time and wanting to make a good first impression, maybe you say something inappropriate or do anything strange, after you meet that person you learned that you will never say or do something like that again because it was not a good first impression. Both of these examples are part of life and most humans have gone through these two things. When you learn something you keep that “thing” in the back of your mind until a situation similar pops up then you use it. A lesson is like a resource; you use it when you need it, you back it up with evidence, and you never forget it. This relates to the argument of life being about lesson learning because if we did not have these defining moments there would be no point to anything. The idea is that there will most likely be experiences and life lessons, whether you like them or not it’s all still going to happen. Life has no direction but that can be a good thing because you don’t always have to know where you need to be, or who to be and that’s when experiences and life lessons occur. They occur because you do something you want to do or you do something you’re not so sure of but still do it; however, either way you still end up with something that you’ll carry through life. A simple observation becomes a beacon that offers guidance, direction, or meaning– and a foundation for living” (Gediman, John, 2). This relates because we do change once we have had a life lesson and it becomes part of us to keep experiencing and learning.
