Defining an American
My Definition of Being an American.

By definition, an American is a native or citizen of the United States. Seems pretty simple right? Well, not all Americans would agree. You see, being American is so much more than just living in the U.S. My definition of being an American is having pride, freedom and the feeling of honor when I say the Pledge of Allegiance and during the national anthem. Democracy, freedom, justice, and patriotism are all key words of an
American.
Not only is nationalism important to Americans, but we also accept people from all over the world. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free." They see the statue of Liberty, greeting them to our beautiful, free country.
Welcoming all immigrants, Lady Liberty symbolizes America by introduction the freedom and honor of America. We come together as one country, indivisible, with freedom and justice for all.
What an honor it is to even say that our troops bravely risk their lives every single day for the freedom of America. Patriotism is countless acts of love and care, and that’s what makes an American and American. If you where asked the question today what it means to you to be an American, what would you say? Would you say, "An American is someone who lives in America and are free but also holding your hand over heart

For some people, the meaning is different. For some are similar, but being an American is so much more than Saying the pledge of allegiance, and being a free citizen. So what does it mean to you?
