Descriptive Essay: My Bedroom
As I sit bundled up in a warm, brown, comfy hoodie and a big, pink blanket, I say to myself, “Where is my favorite place to be?” Well that’s easy, it’s here in my room. My room is the one place I can be me. I can be perfectly content by myself in this room, or happily laying watching TV with my boyfriend. When sitting on my pink, candy cane, stripped bed with my lime green, fluffy to the touch blanket and hot pink, 0black pillows, I look around my room and I notice that all my walls are different yet they all tie perfectly together.
On the wall at the end of my bed I have a bookcase built into my creamy, dreamy, white walls. On my bookcase I have an array of girly things. My stack of magazines looking like a tall, tall tower full of gossip, tricks, and tips. My assortment of candy colored nail polishes lined up so neatly like little soldiers ready for battle. Pinks, purples, blues, oranges, the list could go on forever. And the many perfumes, facial masks, moisturizers and DVDs are too many to count. On my top shelf is where I place my photos, one of which is my favorite. The one of myself and my boyfriend. Every time I glance over at it, it makes me smile. That same smile I had on my face the day I met him. On the same wall beside my bookcase is a large, rectangular shaped window with modern, light pink, bamboo looking blinds. Twirled around the top of my window are the stuffed, fake, fabric flowers that my family gave me every time I went to a cross-country meet. There sewn on happy faces smiling down on me like little guardian angels. Below my window is my dresser. It’s a light brown color. Almost the same color as warm, golden, brown bread that just come out of the oven. On top of my over baked dresser is my shiny, silver TV and my cool, hip lamp. My lamp is orange fabric with pink hanging circles all around it.
Looking to my left the wall is mainly

The House I Live In by Eugene Jarecki is a documentary film about the war on drugs in the United States. It raises many contemporary intercultural concerns about the issue, but first it would be important to explain what cultural groups it highlights. We would first think about diving the war on drugs between drug users and law enforcement, but after watching this movie we can tell that there is a real intercultural issue amongst drug users and prisoners incarcerated for drugs. Indeed, we learn in the movie and its website that “even though White and Black people use drugs at approximately equal rates, Black people are 10.1 times more likely to be sent to prison for drug offenses. Today, Black Americans represent 56% of those incarcerated for drug crimes, even though they comprise only 13% of the U.S. Population”.…

When you walk into my room, on the left wall there is a white dresser that has 6 rectangular drawers, and above that is a crummy and dirty mirror (its old). On the dresser, there will be a tall Big Bird Funko Pop, and there are most likely to be fancy earrings on top of it. Next to that will be a small stack of designed notebooks and a variety of books with a bigger Cannon camera. Depending on the day there will be a tall and slim water bottle or a stout, white defuser and an essential oil next to it. Following the dresser, still on the left wall, is a worn out TV tray. On that, there is a Harley Quinn Funko Pop, an empty box of tissues, my gross iPad charger, along with my iPad, and my phone charger. A little above the TV tray is a large…

Pushing past my anxiety and entering the family’s home, I look around me and took in the large, multi-purpose room. Scattered amongst the large wooden dining table, couches, and television, the sentimental trinkets and children’s toys added warmth to the small home. Although the walls were unfinished and half-painted, the home felt lived-in and cherished. The air was stale and warm, yet the room exuded an air of sweet, beloved family memories. Immediately,…

Coming of age is the time where people change a lot and think a lot for their lives. During this period, people learn more about themselves, explore more responsibility and independence and accept their identity. It is true that we learn more when we come of age. On that basis the movie ‘Looking for Alibrandi’, by Kate Woods, the novel ‘The Spare Room’, by Kathryn Lomer, and the poem ‘The Door’, by Miroslav Holub are all about coming of age events and experiences. The composers use a variety of techniques to communicate these ideas, which will provide that basis for the following discussion.…

We walked up the stairs and I felt a chill go through my bones, I started to count the blue fuzzy steps that were stained brown with coffee stains. You could see the dull boring white paint with flakes that pointed out the chipping and revealed the age of the building. The smell of lemon and lavender hit me like a wave in the ocean crashing onto the shore. We eventually reached the top of the stairs and approached the purple door with a white flakey knob, and as she turned it you could hear it squeak and then finally stop as she revealed a perfectly polished pink room. A carpet was laid on the ground it was so orange and soft that I kept myself seated on the ground admiring the carpet as I briskly, yet lightly, brushed my fingertips across it. All of a sudden my thought were interrupted by the sound of a snip. It took me a while to register what was going on, but as soon as I saw the long brown curl on the delicate carpet I felt myself cringe. I continued to sit there as lifeless as my fallen hair on that beautiful carpet. It felt like torture sitting there with all my words stuck in my throat; it was as if I never even had…

Mistress J weighed heavy on my mind. Goddamn her. Her and her wretched games. I brought a bottle of fireball whiskey to my lips and took a prolonged swig. There was no burning sensation as I drank it, no bitter flavor or bite. I’d had too much alcohol that night to experience delicate, human sensations such as taste. The cinnamon-spice liquor no longer really tasted of anything, just a profound blandness, smooth and gentle like water as it slid down my throat, into my stomach, and then through my small intestine. From there the toxins would be absorbed by itty-bitty blood cells, then come towards my already jittering liver, who was trying with all his might to prevent that poison from reaching a point of metabolized oversaturation in my bloodstream. He wouldn’t accomplish his objective, not if I could help it. It would be a long night, the kind of night that turns to early morning and then before you know it the sun is…
