1. With a partner, choose your speech.
2. Use a timer to cut your selection down to 2 minutes. (If you use your phones to time, put them into airplane mode.)
3. Using proper MLA heading and formatting, create a manuscript of your speech. See this page on the
Purdue Online Writing Lab
(OWL) for guidance. Scroll down that page to see a picture of what your manuscript should look like.
In addition to the example at the OWL, please note the following:
a. Put names of both you and your partner on the same line.
b. Spell your teacher’s name properly.
c. After name of the course, put the hour in parenthesis. Ex. Oral Comm. (1)
d. Title should include writer and name of speech on one line and in boldface.

e. Double-space throughout

Font: Cambria, 12 point (same font in entire document)

4. Keep the paragraphs in your speech, and indent each paragraph.
5. Get rid of extra lines between paragraphs. (This is MLA formatting.)
6. After you have done the above, print a copy and have me review it. Print two-sided if you can. If not, staple the pages together.
7. Once I have approved the formatting, print copies for you and your partner. Punch holes and put them in your binder.
8. Make sure both you and your partner have a copy of the file on your computers. Use airdrop to share it.
9. If you still have time in class, work on getting the speech memorized.
