Data Processing
1. Data Processing- is any process that a computer program does to enter data and, summarize, analyze or otherwise convert data into usable information. The process may be automated and run on a computer. It involves recording, analyzing, sorting, summarizing, calculating, disseminating and storing data. Because data are most useful when well-presented and actually informative, data-processing systems are often referred to as information systems. Nevertheless, the terms are roughly synonymous, performing similar conversions; data-processing systems typically manipulate raw data into information, and likewise information systems typically take raw data as input to produce information as output. 2. Data Processing cycle - (a) input-the data that is entered into a computer system. (b) Process- the set of conditions used in converting the inputs into outputs (c) Output- the information produced by a computer system. 3. Elements of Computer System – (a) ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit): The ALU is the digital circuit that is able to perform different types of functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication etc. (b) Control Unit The control unit is the part of CPU (central processing unit) or other devices that performs the duty to direct its operations, the control unit is just like a finite state machine that has some finite states and the transaction from one state to the other state is called action. (c) Memory-The memory is another very important element of the computer without memory the computer can't operate in today's modern age it is called the RAM (Random Access Memory) whenever we give some instruction to the computer it passes through RAM to the Processor and the processor processes it and send it back. The main reason behind memory is that it is faster in communication with the processor then the other memory devices such as hard disk etc. (d) Input/output devices- The input and output devices is another important element for example the

What is Data? What is information? Data is facts; numbers; statistics; readings from a device or machine. It depends on what the context is. Data is what is used to make up information. Information could be considered to be the same characteristics I just described as data. In the context of transforming data into information, you could assume data is needed to produce information. So information there for is the meaningful translation of a set of or clusters of data that’s produces an output of meaningful information. So data is a bunch of meaningless pieces of information that needs to be composed; analyzed; formed; and so forth to form a meaningful piece of information.…

Data is the raw material from which information is produced; for example, taking a look at the number of hours an employee worked for that particular week or the number of new Volvo sold in the first quarter (Turban & Volonino, 2011). Data is simply converted in to knowledge through splicing of the data together.…

The basic components of all computer systems whether they are microcomputers or supercomputer all contain six basic building blocks: input, output, memory, arithmetic/logical unit, control unit and files. A computer system needs input devices for entering data into the computer for processing. The most common input devices are keyboards and mice. Input devices have now expanded to other methods such as voice input, magnetic ink character recognition (MICR), Optical character recognition (OCR), scanning bar code label, etc. The output devices are used to produce the results of the processing done by the computer. The most common output devices include computer screen or monitor, printer, or writing output on CD or DVD. Computer memory or main memory holds the program instructions and data. All data flows are to and from memory. Arithmetic and Logic Unit consist of incredibly small integrated circuits on a silicon chip. It is mainly responsible for arithmetic function of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculation, logical comparison and decision. Computer files storage devices sometimes called secondary or backing storage is used to store programs and data when they are not being used. Secondary storage is nonvolatile. File devices include hard disk drive, magnetic tape drives, flash drives, and CD or DVD. Control Unit provides the control that enables the computer to take advantage of the speed and capacity of its other components. It controls the sequence of instruction to be executed, controls the flow of data, interpret instructions, and it regulate timing of processor (Brown et al., 2012).…

Computers are basically all around us now and they have become part of our daily living. Not only can it perform calculations much more quickly than a person can, it can also do many complex tasks simultaneously. Thanks to the computers, they help us make the complicated jobs much easier, help us to do tasks quicker and communicate with friends and family with one click, and play a significant role in the school system as well. The computer has significantly changed our world. Perhaps you already know how to use a computer, but how familiar are you with what’s inside of it? There isn't any single part called the "computer." A computer is a system of many parts working together. The computer is made up of two main parts, hardware and software. Hardware is the physical parts that you can touch and see. Software, on the other hand, refers to the instructions, or programs, that tell the hardware what to do. In the following article, I am going to introduce to you the main parts of a computer. These components include input devices, output devices, a system unit, and storage devices.…

First let’s start off by describing data, data is information that has been translated into a form that is more convenient to move or process. Data can also consist in a variety of different forms, like numbers, text, money and even facts stored in your own mind. For example, say you have a check book and are continually using the log to keep up on purchases. That would be classified as a data log because you are storing information to keep as an easy access for future reference.…

Data processing is an intermediary stage of work between data collection and data analysis. The completed instruments of data collection, viz., interview schedules/ questionnaires/ data sheets/field notes contain. a vast mass of data. They cannot straightaway provide answers to research questions. They, like raw materials, need processing. Data processing involves classification and summarisal1on of data in order to make them amenable to analysis…
