Daredevil Archetypes
As an innocent girl is taken hostage in the nearby church the lights go out. We hear screams ... and then silence. As the cops show up and get a grip on the situation. The camera pans up to the roof of the church and we see Matthew Murdock looking down his work. Before the show cuts to the intro we see Matt or Daredevil flash a quick smile, knowing that what he did made a difference.The TV series Daredevil uses the archetypes the initiation, the warrior, and the task which shows us that we as humans try to help others before we help ourselves because we find joy in others happiness, and that is why we try harder to achieve a goal so we can feel that sensation. To start, in the first few episodes of Daredevil Matthew Murdock and his legal partner Foggy Nelson just started their own law firm passing up a big paying job at a prestigious law firm, but due to the unethical things they did to win cases the two friends couldn’t take the job. This makes Matthew an honest and humble person. During the first episode of this TV show we meet Karen Paige, a woman being accused of a crime, but Matt and Foggy step in as her lawyers. Moving toward the middle of this season, Matt is going through a really hard time. People are finding out his identity as Daredevil, and this has been affecting his relationships, but when Matt is going through this tough time he doesn’t give up he fights harder.When Matthew was interrogating a criminal he says fiercely “ I do this because I like it,”. Going back to the theme, it states that we find joy in others happiness. This is an indirect way of happiness as it is through the safety of the people they can stay
