Daniel Stoowen Research Paper
Walking up to the beautiful and luxurious house, you could smell the scent of roses and the welcome the birds give you to invite in the morning. The massive garden filled with wildlife and fountains along with many other treasures making it one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen. The gardens are layered with snow during winter with horse drawn carriages to take a midnight ride in and during the fall they are covered with decorations and offer a prize for the best costume during the October days; these fun times are what makes this place so magical to not just me but for everyone. The bunnies are hopping and the birds are chirping telling you it’s spring. Spring is wonderful and the best part is Easter and of course Daniel Stowe …show more content…
Even though I have not participated in the Halloween costume contest, I do enjoy getting scared out of my mind by monsters and ghosts. Anytime during the month of October you can have so much fun but personally I have always enjoy the time around Halloween because they have trick-or-treaters, games, and the haunted gardens. What I most enjoy is the catapult pumpkin game; when you arrive at the building they give you a pumpkin and you can paint it or carve it or if you are crazy you can go and smash it. The staff will every so often announce when the game begins. When it starts they take the volunteers pumpkins then the they will put the pumpkin into place and shoot it over a valley. Then they check to see how far it went and when the game ends, the person whose pumpkin went the farthest got a prize. I never won but it was hilarious to see airborne pumpkins getting smashed into the ground. It was truly a sight to …show more content…
Christmas time is the most festive and fun season for everyone to come to Daniel Stowe. At night they take you on a carriage ride through the gardens and give you hot chocolate to keep you warm from the frigid night air. The snow falls from the sky and litters the ground, while letting you catch the snowflakes on your tongue. The staff always manages to keep you warm and happy while also giving you a little insight into the history of the gardens. The staff will hang up lights to give the gardens some flare. Back at the main house they brought me coffee or hot chocolate(of my choice) while I drank I listen to the beautiful pianist play Jingle Bells and Rock Around The Christmas Tree. They even let you dance in the miniature ballroom. For the smaller children they have a christmas train set that you can play with and watch it run through its stop as if it had its own family to return to for christmas. In addition to the train set they love to tell Christmas stories for the children. They have small gifts for for every family passing through to show their gratitude and to tell you that you are always welcomed. At the end of the night when I step outside snow falls down on my head and makes me smile, this place gives me great memories that I will always

I am David Shane Dobyns, twenty-two years of age; I was born in Puyallup, Washington August 17th 1994 at Good Samaritan hospital. My family consists of my mother, father, and brother. Growing up was as idyllic as one would suspect. In my pre-pubescent years we moved several times bouncing from Oregon to Washington in search of “gods’ plan” for us, finally starting a church of our own in Lubbock, Texas. The church siphoned our time and money to the brink of poverty. Through the eyes of a jaded 5-year-old, everything was but a perfect utopia, neither a problem nor a care in the world. Mother was a stay at home at the wife, dictated by the church, whilst father worked odd jobs donating what blood and platelets he could muster that week to pay…
