She was a beautiful young lady with big ice-berg colored eyes along with bright blonde hair chopped to her shoulders. They listened In trouble the Locust stripped them of their weapon's and searched them for who knows what else.
Most people would say that every story ends with a happy ending. You would be very wrong to think that. Flashlights shining in their eyes... into their innocent faces. While lying on the grass in the front yard, I imagined the exciting night ahead. Before long, Taylor and his girlfriend, Kara, arrived and picked me up. Almost immediately, I stood up and sauntered in my Duke sweatshirt and basketball shorts over to their car. I jumped into the backseat. Immediately, I was assaulted with the strong smell of perfume that had been sprayed inside the car because it belonged to Kara. Tonight instead of driving, she decided to let Taylor drive illegally without a license. As we drove off to Erik’s house, the rendezvous for tonight’s “Goatman” adventure, we saw a police officer had just pulled a car over. As we drove by, we breathe easier and relaxed because we didn’t see any more cops on the way.…

    Day of the Locust

In The Day of the Locust by Nathanael West, illusion verse reality is one of the main themes of the novel. Hollywood is known for it’s acting, but the town and everyone that inhibit it seem to get carried away with trying to be something they aren’t. Nothing is really indigenous in Hollywood and everything is borrowed from another place. The houses have been designed to look like Irish cottages, Spanish villas, or Southern plantations while the characters often imagine themselves as someone other than who they really are. Tod states, “The fat lady in the yachting cap was going shopping, not boating; the man in the Norfolk jacket and Tyrolean hat was returning, not from a mountain, but an insurance office; and the girl in slacks and sneaks with a bandana around her head had just left a switchboard, not a tennis court” (60). West shows us that Hollywood is filled with fantasies and dreams rather than reality, which can best be seen through characters such as Harry and Faye Greener.…

excuse to stop at a restaurant or any other place. I think they would have found an excuse because they didn’t really want to get Kenny to the Emergency Room. When they stopped to get coffee or food they could’ve taken Kenny in with them to get him warm, even asked the people in the coffee shop if they could use the phone. Why do you think the people at the coffee shop didn’t ask them questions about their friend in the back of the truck? I don’t think the people in the coffee shop would have done anything about it. I think this town just doesn’t care what happens around them, in my opinion I think they just focus on them and not their surroundings, like the farmhouse owner’s wife didn’t do anything about Kenny when she saw him injured. The final statement…
