Dangerous Game Analysis
Dangerous Game
Rainsford was hinted by Zaroff after Rainsford fell off the ship. Rainsford fell off the ship because he thought he heard a animal yelping or a person screaming. This story is a good story because there are a lot of mysteries that come up and you never know what's going to happen next. I agree that there are hunters and hunted in life.

Rainsford, Zaroff and Whitney were all hunters in the movie at one point. Rainsford is a big game hunter just like whitney but, whitney thinks animals don't have feelings. Zaroff and whitney are almost the same except Zaroof plays a game with his “victims” and hunts people. On the the other hand Whitney hunts big animals rather than people. “We should have some good hunting up in the amazon”.

The object of the game is not to get shot or captured. Just like me Rainsford was also being hunted by Zaroff in the end. “Rainsford held his breath, the general's eyes had left the ground and were traveling inch by inch up the tree. Rainsford also escaped Zaroff just like me. Rainsford was the hunted in the story.

The story is very suspenseful. In The story the “Dangerous game”, you never know what's going to happen next. In the story Rainsford was being hunted but you would never know where Zaroff was or when Zaroff would shoot. Rainsford can also relate to that because he never knew where he would want go next. “Somewhere is a large island said Whitney it's rather a mystery”.

“Splendid! One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard, Rainsford.”... “He had never slept in a better bed”. (Connell 41) There were some of last few sentences of the story provided a somewhat cryptic ending. This meant that Rainsford had beat Zaroff. Since Zaroff was beat by Rainsford he won his bed. This also means Rainsford has won the hunt and is finally free and does not have to worry about hunting humans or ever being the prey again. The ending didn't tell you a lot, but told you some main things so you know and can put together with what happened next. All of these quotes explain how Rainsford outsmarted Zaroff and won “The Most Dangerous Game.”…

Rainsford will not take over General Zaroff’s game of hunting other humans. For instance, when General Zaroff asks Rainsford to go hunting, he says, “Thank you, I’m a hunter, not a murderer.”(25) Rainsford classifies himself as someone who hunts animals, but not humans. He disapproves of General Zaroff’s game and most likely still does. In addition, while Rainsford is being hunted, he thinks, “The Cossack was the cat; he was the mouse. Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror.”(31) Rainsford is truly afraid at this point just like other humans are when they are being hunted. He has had the horrifying experience and probably doesn’t want anyone to feel this fear. As a result, Rainsford is a gentleman and animal…

"But as he forged along, he saw to his great astonishment that all the lights were in one enormous building- a lofty structure with pointed towers plunging up into the gloom." This scene describes the point in the story where Rainsford is on the island and sees the chateau. This quote lines up Rainsford to meet General Zaroff as he brings himself to arrive at his chateau. "There is no greater bore than perfection." In this scene General Zaroff and Rainsford are talking about their take on hunting when General Zaroff non-shalontly implies his psychotic opinion that it is okay to hunt humans by telling Rainsford how everything else has failed to satisfy his thrill. This quote shows the loss of interest General Zaroff is experiencing because he no longer finds hunting as a challenge. General Zaroff makes it clear to Rainsford what his interest on this island is and Rainsford suddenly finds himself in a life-threatening situation when General Zaroff wants him to take part in his…

Zaroff starts to explain to Rainsford how hunting animal’s no longer gives him a thrill, but Rainsford is confused as Zaroff explains what type of creatures he now hunts. After a lengthy conversation at the dinner table, Zaroff gets to the point and says, “It must have courage, cunning, and above all, it must be able to reason.” (Connell). It is here where Rainsford realizes it is humans that Zaroff has moved on to and suddenly Rainsford begins to fear for his life. Zaroff wants a challenge, because all the men he is hunting are making it too easy, so he believes Rainsford will give him a challenge, since he is a hunter himself. Zaroff now makes a deal with Rainsford, “I’ll cheerfully acknowledge myself defeat if I do not find you by midnight of the third day – my sloop will place you on the mainland near a town.” (Connell). If he wants to make it off this island he will need to survive Zaroffs three-day game. Rainsford is sent into the huge jungle with no direction of where he is and all he has is food, clothes, and a knife. The game has now…

We see this throughout his actions during the hunt. Rainsford starts to feel genuine fear and terror as he waits to see if he will make it through the day, we see this expressed once he starts to hear the hounds on page 78. Only one page later on page 79 the author tells us Rainsford now understands how an animal at bay feels. By the end we can infer he no longer sees hunting as a game, but as cruel entertainment. Once Zaroff revealed what his “most dangerous game” was, he attempted to justify his murderous hobby by arguing that, “‘I am strong...If I wish to hunt why should I not,’”(10). Here, Zaroff is committing a standard mistake; he does something because he can, but morally should not. The only way he actually justifies his “game” is by saying that it is diverting and provides a challenge for him. The belief that he is all-powerful blinds him from the fact that since he has frequently perpetrated against innocent humans, he will have to pay for his actions. Furthermore, Zaroff concluded that Rainsford had perished, but he is later proven wrong. As an illustration, “A man, who had been hiding in the curtains of the bed, was standing there… ‘I congratulate you’... ‘You have won the game,’”(18). Connell uses this event to affirm that Zaroff had indeed been hunted all along. Although he did not realize it, Zaroff was gradually falling prey to Rainsford. The American was constantly outsmarting him and made numerous attempts on his life. Throughout the story Rainsford was gaining leverage; it is clear he won because Zaroff was cocky and ignorant of his surroundings. In Zaroff’s case, the very thing that made him powerful debilitated…

Rainsford was shocked .On the wall hung human heads, Awful trophies of bad times .Zeke quickly dumped the rest of the gasoline in the library and rushed out. On the way out, he lit a match and threw it on the side of the house. The flames engulfed the wall. In seconds Rainsford noticed flames shooting out the window and thick black smoke pouring out of the roof into the sky. “The building...,” Rainsford began, just as the building exploded into an inferno. Zeke yelled over the noise. “They should be here.” Rainsford thought he heard a plane. Zeke ran towards the beach and set Rainsford down into the warm sand. Going through dangerous districts and frightening enemies, and with a friend suffering from amnesia, the father successfully reunites with his son. Just like the reader is left in suspense wondering about how Marlin and Nemo are going to find each other in Finding Nemo, many authors use suspense to keep the reader interested in the story. Suspense is the excitement or tension that readers feel as they wait to find out how a story ends or a conflict is resolved. In "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allen Poe, and "A Sound of Thunder" by Ray Bradbury, all three authors use suspense to captivate the reader's attention in their…
