Dandelion Proposal
Dandelion Proposal Dandelions are an annoying, invasive species that grow rapidly in the summertime. Also, several children and adults have allergies to these weeds. Through research, we found along with being a pesky garden weed that dandelions also have several health benefits when consumed. We came up with a plan to get these dandelions out of our gardens and lawns and into our nutritional diet. The species Taraxacum (Dandelions) is listed as a noxious weed, which means it is a plant considered harmful to animals or the environment. It is a nuisance in lawns and gardens because it spreads and grows aggressively. They out-compete native plants that are needed as a food source for wildlife. Also, Dandelion milk has been known to contain some latex. This is dangerous for people with allergies to latex and limits outside areas they are allowed to go. Seeing as we both have experience in being high school athletes, we both know how important having a nutritional diet is. When people are healthy they experience a happier life. We want residents on the Kenai Peninsula to be happy. Dandelions have several health benefits when it is made into tea. In fact, it is one of the many important medical ingredients in over half the phytonutrient blends on the market like weight loss, rejuvenation, digestive, liver, kidney, and skin supplements.
