Policies and procedures form an important part of work place practice. It is vital to ensure that all staff have a clear understanding of the requirements and responsibilities in relation to the safeguarding of children, young people and staff.

3.1. An explanation of why it is important to ensure children and young people are protected from harm within the work setting.

It is important for children and young people to be protected from harm within school/college to help them learn and thrive. This can only be achieved when they are healthy, safe and their welfare is promoted. Educational achievement is an effective way for children to increase their chances to flourish and work their way out of poverty and away from harm.
3.2 An explanation of 'policies and procedures' that are in place to protect children and young people and adults who work with them.

Procedures and systems provide clear guidance on what to do in different circumstances and they clarify roles and responsibilities. These policies and procedures should include: Working together to safeguard Children (2010), Health and safety Policy, Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, A Child protection Policy What to do if you're worried a child is being abused (2003), A Health and Safety policy UNCRC, Away from the policies and procedures there are other ways adults can protect themselves by being familiar with all expected day to day issues that could arise within their work environment and what actions they should take in relation to their occurrence.
