An article “Doctors Also Biased Against Fat People,” by Neal Colgrass talks about how doctors are prejudiced against overweight patients. Colgrass wrote, “Turns out doctors are about as biased as the general public.” The general public is usually quick to make judgments against overweight people without thinking about their circumstance. According to Colgrass, doctors who were also overweight were “more understand about overweight patients.” Doctors who are less sensitive jeopardized the patients’ emotional health and physical health.…

The video presentation involving the caseworker, school nurse, and the psychiatrist, discussing possible methods of helping Annie is in my opinion a great video to utilize for an analysis of group communication and diversity styles. The participant of this group consisted of three individuals, one male and two females and their attempts to assist a 17-year-old high school student by the name of Annie. Annie potentially suffers from an eating disorder and a level of depression. These issues were present as being identified through the school's nurse…

    Tequila Video Analysis

Throughout the video, there were many illogical actions taken upon the two friends of Gonzales that gave off a negative image of them. By deciding to over drink and going out to pick fights, Mexicans were shown as bad people. “Tequila” being the drink the two had consumed too much of not only displayed a stereotype, but also shows a lack of control and somewhat of an alcohol problem the Mexican community may have. The reference to Tequila was more of an American producer approach. Although it is a common drink in this community, it played off a bad connotation in, which seemed to be a “US fascination with Mexican culture” which “…called for a demand of all things Mexican.” (9/19 Notes). Hence, the word “Tequila” being used instead of just saying drink. In addition to that, the music had stopped when Gonzales had approached his…

During this class I have made two self- discoveries that will positively impact my career goals. Those self- discoveries has helped to mold, and shape me into a student that I have never thought I would be. Those discoveries were that I am an organized learner, because I made a study plan to help me determine when, and how I would study. Being that I have five children, I had to make sure that I had set a schedule so that my course work including study time would not affect my family time and take away from spending time with my children and fiance`. Since these are the competing priorities in my life right now learning to obtain trust and consistency in the home while I have been attending school has also improved because not only do I see my success so does my children and fiancé. Knowing that I had that support also has made it possible to do my best in school, setting the pace for them to do the same in school also, whether it be good grades, sports, etc. I know that they will continue to be good at what they do and have proven to do so time after time.…
