Cyber Bullying Should Be a Criminal Law
Not being able to choose who you are and what you do with your life is very difficult. In the story Two Kinds, a little girl named Ni Kan has to go through a tough childhood with a very controlling mother. Her mother demands her to be nothing but famous when she grows up. Ni Kan at first loved the thought of her being famous. But after a lot of tests her mother gave her and training, she got sick of it. The tests got a lot harder the more she did. “The tests got harder, multiplying numbers in my head, finding the queen of hearts in a deck of cards, try to stand on my head without using my hands.” She did nothing but practice with her mother to be famous. Her mother was making Ni Kan do something she didn't even want to do. She didn't want to be famous, she wanted to be her own person and grow up like normal child.

The idea for piano lessons at the heart of this particular story's conflict comes from television and popular magazines. Ni Kan and her mother watch Shirley Temple movies, trying to imagine her as a child star. They even go so far as to get her hair styled to make her look like the blond, curly haired Temple. The mother also reads countless "stories about remarkable children" in the magazines she brings home from the houses she cleans.

Imagine growing up and not being able to play outside with your friends or go to a normal school with your classmates. Or your parents not asking you what you want to be when you grow up because they already know what they want you to be. That is a terrible way to grow up and thats what Ni Kan had to go through. She was raised to be a golden child, and nothing else. Her mother wanted her to look up to Shirley Temple as her role model, inspiration and motivation. Ni Kan didn't want to be like her. Thats not the kind of person she was. She was sick of her mother pushing her around so much to be someone she didn't want to be. She wanted to stick up for herself and try to change her mothers mind about it all. “I

The narrator feels like her parents expressed that everything she did was not “good enough” according to their expectations, which led to her suicide. She even goes so far as to say, “If only I were a son, shoulders broad as the sunset threading through the pine,”(Mirikitani 10). She feels her gender causes her to be sub-par to her parents’ standards. Since she is a female, she lacks the important feeling of self worth. As hard as she works, the results of her efforts are not adequate to earn the approval of her family. Although she states “I’ve worked very hard, harder, perhaps to please you”, she knows that no matter the great effort she puts into a project, it will be insufficient (Mirikitani 7). Her mindset leads her to believe her life is not worth living.…

Cyber bullying can be describes as the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass or target someone. Technologies used by cyberbullies can range from social networking sites, emails, instant messaging or even cell phones. These avenues tend to be very effective for cuberbullies because of the reach it has to the intended target. There doesn’t need to be a specific time of day for the bullies to for example; to post a comment on a social networking site, send the intended target an email, text message or an instant message online because even if that target doesn’t view it right away, they more than likely will at a later time. Also, in this technological age we live in there are very few people without any of the technologies listed above. This pretty much guarantees that the bullies will get their point across.…

The story of the fall of my freshman year of high school, in my opinion, encompasses all of the innate tendencies male individuals possess. Furthermore, I believe this story delves deeper into our reality as human beings and the consequences we are destined to face as a result of our physical makeup. The consequences, for me, proved violent, physically painful, and eternally fulfilling. This is a strange statement because when these incidents occurred it was dark and scary time in my life, but, ironically, this was also the most rewarding happening of my young life. You see, this is the story of how I met the best friend I have, Bob McGrath. I truly believe I am blessed to be of member of the male sex. I believe this because I love my life…

Cyberbullying victims hardly come forward and face their attackers. Victims are scared to come forward for fear of retaliation, feeling ashamed and many other things. What they do not know or fail to understand is that victims are never responsible for what is happening. Everything that is being done about it now is most commonly because of an incident that has already happened. It is sad to say it but it is true. Like many other things it is often too late but better than never. The only time a case is hopeless is when nothing can be done and with bullying that should never happen. The cases of Amanda Todd, Phoebe Prince, Tyler Clementi and many more were easily preventable. Most bullies feel sorry after the truth of their torment is public…

Individuals should not be prosecuted for statements made on social media. One reason why people should not be prosecuted for cyberbullying is if a group of friends were to leave someone out of a game online they could be criminally charged for cyberbullying. Some more reasons cyberbullying should not be a crime is victims could avoid cyberbullying by turning off their electronics and this law would violate the first amendment of freedom of speech. The last reason is only a small margin of people have been affected by cyberbullying.…
